I think these reports should be paraphrased and put on brass plaques around the Turf as a constant reminder of how far we have come and if not careful how far we could fall.

Great stuff.
That first report is particularly well written.

Empty seats in the cricketfield, not a lot in the away end, no man's land empty, long side bottom right as you look at it was thinning out, both sides of the beehole were thinned out as was the front. 17,500 sounds reasonable.

But in all my years on the Longside I was never squashed in like I was that day.

Only 2 shirts remained intact....
I asked Ray Deakin for his shirt as he ran off the pitch. He was happily taking it off to give to me when 2 of Lancashire's finest constables saw fit to grab me round the neck and put my arm up my back to prevent me getting a momento of the day.

No doubt that a large section of the Longside was squashed, perhaps 3 quarters of it going off the footage and there appeared to be a decent sized squash right in the centre of the Beehole but would this take the actual attendance above say the likes of the Wrexham game in 92'? I'm not sure.

The ground was less full than for the two Blackpool games in 90-1 and 91-2 and definitely not as packed as the Wrexham game..17600 seemed like 35000 after we'd been playing to @2000 most weeks.
I used to stand on the longside roughly in line with the Bee Hole 18 yard line and for most of that season you could see right through the full length of the longside ...hard to describe how empty it was most weeks .I remember when we played Wolves they brought a big following...the gate was still under 3000...

The evening fa cup replay against Chelsea was pretty tight on the terracing in 1970 and Sheffield wednesday again in the fa cup 83? Was pretty special to. When the fa cup meant something

They were, but the Longside was nothing like on those two occasions as it was for the Orient game.
