Whilst I agree with the easing of things in a staggered way, I think after watching that, even more people are going to start taking the ****.
And not sure how so many people are going to be ready to go back to work tomorrow morning.

This just needs merging with the Covid-19 thread. But, yes, a baffling strapline and divergence from Scotland, Wales and NI.

Usual bullshit from Sturgeon. Telling everyone to stay at home whilst at the same time telling them there is no limit on the number of times you can go out taking exercise. She is just spoiling for a fight as usual.

Wife said that. I didn’t hear it. Those living near beauty spots will be vocal on the BBC news in coming weeks.
Also looking forward to a walk up Pendle though

Should keep sturgeon on BBC Scotland only, so annoying!! And people in manufacturing won't be going to work tomorrow, they have to wait for there company to tell them when. We need to start to do something so I think Boris has done it right so far.

Agreed, things have got to start moving very slowly and very carefully and as said above, returning to work will involve contact from their employer WHEN they’re safe to do so and measures are in place.
Personally I’m a little confused about fishing from Wednesday so I’m guessing they’ll be a lot more detail as the week progresses.

My place has kept on a skeleton staff more or less throughout the lockdown. More of us are going back this week, although not many.

Yeah! until the 2nd spike,if you don't believe me look at Germany for evidence, modest lifting of their lockdown, and in just a few days their R number is above 1 again.

Original lockdown should have been much stricter.

Well! if you take the scientific advice as gospel,we're past the peak, but our numbers of fatalities & new cases aren't dropping that quickly, compared to say Spain, where for about 2 weeks their death tolls have been under 200 a day,it did help that their government properly enforced the lockdown, ours has been lax from day one, sums up the whole affair, not enough clarity and leadership.
TBF you can''t totally blame the government, for the British public behaving like a bunch of numbskulls, and treating this last 2 months as an extended holiday, instead of a national emergency.

Free to visit the supermarket daily, if you so desired, and to go out for exercise we were never really in "lockdown" were we?
A much tougher lockdown in Spain, where people were routinely stopped by police returning from a shopping trip to examine till receipts, and adults from the same household had to exercise separately.
Following the garbled and somewhat confusing message this evening, it will be very interesting to see how the public react and if the transport system starts to get busier from tomorrow.

It’s up to us to be responsible though isn’t it? I don’t need to be told popping into tesco everyday isn’t a good idea. I also can limit myself to 1 hour of exercise each day. It really isn’t hard. People have taken it upon themselves to behave tbh appallingly but not only themselves but their families and others at risk for being stupid.

This exactly. The gist of today's statement is for people to use their common sense. As always, 90% of people will but the remaining 10% who are paralysed from the neck up will not.

So if I have this right
Last week we could go to supermarkets or B&Q where we have no idea on the medical condition of anybody else, providing we stayed 2 metres apart
Now we can also go back to work, with people we haven't seen for ages, providing we again keep 2 metres apart plus we can go out "for exercise" as many times as we want taking care when, again, we come into contact with strangers
But we can't visit relatives even if keeping the same social distance measures - am I correct on this?

so the early sheep are out in force bleating again, told that there was a virus that kills you, stay safe look after people you love and yourself, oi, want to go the pub, yea and there are some great places to visit and meet other with a great atmosphere, yea let's go. Cue few weeks later, they just don't tell us, it's mixed messages, why don't they lock us down, why don't they tell us not to go out, I need a clear message!! Clear message, stay home, entertainment/sports/gatherings all closed down, fast forward, right I'm fed up with this, let's go to the park, let's go to the seaside, it's a nice day, policemen being spat at, loads of new frauds/scams come out, people step up stealing. Marches and placards, stop this lockdown, we need to get out.
Today, you can do a little more but it's dangerous, the R number is down below 1.0 but only just, so while you can do a little more be careful, stay alert, keep you distance, only go out with people in your own household, don't mix, don't get close whether shopping or walking or doing any activity.
Biggest problem this government have is that they believe the sheep have brains and can think and will act properly to keep the R # down but hear we are, ohhh my goodness it's not clear, ohhh it's mixed messages, sheep proving beyond belief that you can't think for yourselves. Sheep wanting a Shepard to have a dog to drive you into the enclosure, needing implicit instructions in what to do to stay safe, it amazes me you can even cross a road safely. Bah Bahh

Suspect this will be the ongoing debate. It’s clear that lifting any restrictions will impact the R rate. The trick will be lifting them slowly enough to understand the impacts of each one. We can’t stay in lockdown forever, so it’s now a very precarious balancing act. Not one I’d like to manage.

Yep, knowing how to cross a road safely is definitely comparable with knowing how to return to work and make a living safely whilst minimising your risk of contracting coronavirus.
Come on people, we don't need any clarity.

Now there is a slight relaxation , and parks have been referred to as okay places to go, cue mass gatherings and maniacs using it as an excuse to wreak havoc.

Bah Bah,
usual non reply
Do you understand the R number, let's say yes
Do you understand how you contact C-19, let's say yes
Do you understand the safe distance rule how far apart you should be to people who are not of your household, let's say yes
Can you do all of the above when you go out, let's say yes
Keep doing all of the above
Are you going to work presently, are you working from home, are on furlough, are you without a job?
Surely you can figure out what to do in any one of the 4 situations.
If you are working then be just as if not more vigilant
If your home you should be in regular contact with your employer, I'll take a SWAG and say you have e-mail and a phone, use it to see what are the plans, it's not for the government to tell you.
Furlough, same thing, communicate, find out plans for the future
Unemployed or self employed you know what to do, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here, not sure why but I am.
REMEMBER IF ALL ELSE FAILS DO NOTHING BUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND STAY SAFE AND MORE ALERT, BECAUSE THERE WILL BE MORE PEOPLE AROUND
BAH BAH

Reading in-between the lines the general message I interpreted was, carry on doing what you've been doing & just be safe & sensible without being too patronising, probably conceding the lockdown as been ignored by lots of people just exercising plain common sense odd exceptions of course, we are over the worse of it so he's cutting everybody some slack, I didn't think it was a terrible speech although not as clear as I would have liked, if we get to where we need to be subject to monitoring the situation further measures will be eased in due course.

I think you're correct. Although it's still not clear is it. My first reaction was that I could now drive the 50 miles to see my grandson but keep to the social distance measures upon arrival. I think I'm wrong though. It needs to be made much clearer.

I don't need to, I have been reading your posts to numerous people over months. If you don't know what to do ask someone because you're clearly having a go at what was said today because it's not clear to you as are many others. I really do know how to look after myself and my family and understand what was said and why it was said. There is a huge difference in saying I don't understand because there is no clear meassge and saying I don't agree with it.
If you don't know learn and ask, stop bleating
If you don't agree with it that's fine it was not meant especially for you or your family in terms of "thou shalt" go out
