Of the two meter rule.
The Southerners must think it's about two feet :o

Although I consider myself a Northerner I have lived down south for over 50 years - I live in a small coastal town and it is incredible how so many people are treating the relaxation of the lockdown as a reason to go to the beaches. Beggars belief at times 😡

I go to a beach every day...love it...keep a sensble distance as does everyone else..what harm am I causing here?.not sure what your problem is with people going to a beach...I suspect a bit of self-righteous nimby style hysteria.

ps....if youre not keen on crowds heading for beaches on sunny days, i'm not sure southern coastal towns are for you?.

Some countries use 1.5m.

When I learned to referee we were each asked to estimate how far ten yards (9.15 metres!) was. Most hadn't a clue. Luckily I was a groundsman so knew I had eleven pace to ten yards (and twelve to ten metres).

I don't know what the government were thinking when they said you could drive as far as you want for excercise and meet up with one other person.
I Carnt walk round the corner to speak to my son in his garden, yet we could both drive to Southend and meet up!!!

I walked by fennyfolds playing fields yesterday evening and saw two groups socialising drinking and having a BBQ.One group there were six of them and the larger group I counted up to fourteen of them but there were a few more including kids.So it's not just southerners

This new obsession with self-righteous sniping about people enjoying themselves is proving popular. Nice long distance pic so it looks like they're all next to each other but the real cause of superiority angst is families - god forbid - having fun. But fill your boots, lockdown will be over soon. No new cases in London yesterday. Some people still talking like they're living through the bubonic plague.

Not safe for children to return to school in a fairly controllable environment but ok for parents to take them to the beach and let them run wild.

Self righteous nimby style hysteria ..... thanks for that But you suspect wrong - and actually I do go to the beach every day for my daily exercise. Since March I have lost both my brother and father so I apologise if you think I am hysterical. You are causing no harm if you are keeping a sensible distance but so many on our local beaches aren’t- maybe I didn’t make that point clear.

Sorry to hear about your brother and dad. I'm guessing this was down to Covid-19?

Since this started we’ve had so many people who just don’t understand that minimising risk is not just about 2m distance. It’s actually about making sure that IF you have to go somewhere (that is permitted) then to MINIMISE the risk the closest you should get is 2m.

The point is, IMO, that these people shouldn’t be on the beach in the first place (before lifting lockdown) yet many were using the exercise excuse and 2m as a guide. Now that the guidelines have been eased it does look like the 2m guide is used as a reason to be there not as a restriction on an essential visit somewhere.

Father suffered from dementia and died from pneumonia and “suspected” Covid but because he was in a home that had the virus I was not allowed to visit. Brother suffered a heart attack walking through a local park days before lockdown so not the best year of my life lol

Your point was clear. Just the usual crew falling over themselves to cast aspersions on those who are having the audacity to follow government guidelines while at the same time implicitly diluting a pandemic that has caused c. 55k excess deaths. “So what if they’re not social distancing, they’re having a good time!”

Sorry to hear about your dad and brother.

I was out and about yesterday walking through a respectable housing estate and saw little signs of social distancing, with kids riding their push bikes and playing together.
I honestly believe for most the lockdown as been pritty lame to say the least, the quicker this country gets back to work and kids back to school the better.

The biggest problem around my area has been Blackburn Royal sending patients back to care homes knowing full well that they have Covid.
It is about time the NHS stood up and showed some responsibility instead of the management passing the can

Did they know full well they had C-19? There wasn't the capacity for testing back in March. Also, lack of PPE in both the NHS and care homes hasn't helped. But still, let's not blame the govt, even though they knew full well what was coming our way.

There's some interesting deflection from criticising the government going on but I can't see blaming the NHS gaining much traction with the public.

Sunbathing (gaining Vit D and heat) and swimming (exercise for strengthening the lungs) in salt water might just be the best thing you can do to fight this virus?

Remember the 2m distance is needed for people facing each other. The virus can only be absorbed through the mouth, nose or eyes.

A large proportion of the population aren’t that intelligent and have no idea what 2 metres is. I see many standing a token foot apart.

There's thousands on miles of coastline, yet people feel the need to crowd together like lemmings on a handful of beaches, even in the middle of a pandemic that's already killed over 35000 (minimum estimate) in the UK.

It was too nice to stay in and work yesterday, so I met up with a mate and we just followed our noses and wandered up over the tops of Loveclough, hardly saw a soul in 14 miles. Were so lucky were we live. Hard to understand why people flock to all the tourist hotspots.

I Can understand where he's coming from, must be hard work seeing that..

" What an absolute kick in the guts to every NHS frontline and UK key worker!

Not only are the beaches and parks packed today, and neighbours having parties, but they are filled with SOME people receiving furlough payments. So us frontline mugs will keep working whilst you have a fabulous time spreading your germs around. Plus we will be expected to accept a pay freeze to pay for it!

Who the hell do you think is going to pick up the pieces when this goes tits up?!

Do me a favour, and don’t you dare come out and clap at 8pm tomorrow. Bunch of Hypocrites!!.."

People have been coming up with their own interpretations since this began.

A day after the official "stay at home, don't meet with anybody outside your household" order weeks ago a colleague was out exercising with their friend but it was fine apparently as they were social distancing at all times. Wrong, read the rules again

Yesterday, there was a picture on FB of somebody hugging their grandchildren with the caption "Thank goodness we can do this again" No actually you can't, you just made up that rule because the official ones don't suit your needs.

Then there's others who say that they're just guidelines and not actual rules...

People with step children have been crossing houses since day dot.

I'm steering clear of all family members, but those who said they need to see their mum, dad sister etc are no different to those who let their step and/or children flit from one house to another week on week were doing the exact same.

Them same people now are wanting to protect their children, and dont want them mingling with 10 other children at school as there's a risk of infection....

The big question now is whether the interpretation of the rules by the PM and his Special Adviser are in accord?
If they are in agreement, then I suspect that the PM will soon be in deep trouble, since even his own MPS are publicly expressing their alarm and discomfort at the situation.

I live in a small coastal town, aged population. Since the start of lockdown it has been the older generation not following the rules. Standing in small pockets in the shops, 12-15 people sat on the beach together, walking round chatting to each other.

Total cases in the the village of 5000....

TWO, both in a care home.
Someone must have it to pass it on in the care home?

Or do care homes get more money if there's reported cases?

Maybe someone in the care home went to hospital and caught it there? Or perhaps the care home employs staff from outside the village?

Cheap relative to what it was before C19, so that's why they want to to increase demand.
