Not as I’ve heard - still on 30th June although I think there is a facility to extend short term

If he walks away i doubt it'll be as soon as next week,i was under the impression existing contracts were going to be temporarily extended until the end of the season, whenever that might be.
Now once his contract's up he may choose to sign for another club which is entirely his right,i wouldn't guarantee it'll be Celtic he'll end up joining though, there's been no mention of him in the Scottish media that I've seen, and it'd be a big story up here.

Contracts end in normal circumstances at the end of June so he’s still under contract for a further month. I think we will be able to extend short term but I assume players won’t have to if they choose to leave.

As much as I would like Hendrick to stay, surely if it becomes pretty clear he isn’t going to resign, I would like Dyche to plan his team without him if games do restart, I cannot see the point in playing him now knowing full well he is on his way.

OK fortunately it's not a major issue as we''re comfortably placed,if we were in the thick of the dog fight it could have been a problem, and this could effect the bottom 6 much more.
If Jeff is lining up a move away we might as well give Brownhill a few games and get him attuned to the 1st team set-up,also will Jeff's heart really be in it if he's eyeing pastures new,and of course there's always the risk of injury for him to consider, his next contract could be his last chance of a big pay day,he won't want to endanger that.

With the current situation in football is Jeff likely to get a better offer at the moment, especially in Scotland or in the EFL?

They did but those rumours have gone quiet,Brady's clearly not coming north of the border,Jeff who knows but all the talk up here is about clubs cutting their cloth accordingly, including both Glasgow giants,so if Jeff decides to chance his arm he might not be getting the £ signs he expected a few months ago.
The conundrum i can't square is surely Jeff could've signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic in January yet he didn't. This suggests to me he or possibly his agent want to keep his options open for whatever reason.

Why Scotland? Is that because some poster on here linked him with Celtic? Last club I saw him linked with was Manchester United which is about as likely.

I doubt many clubs will be signing free agents until they know whether and when they will be playing football, and how their budgets are looking, and in quite few cases, what division they will be in. Unless Jeff can find a club that has a bottomless-pocket owner who wants him no matter what, he will be in limbo along with most other out-of-contract players until clubs start signing again.

For me, we’re 6 pts off a potential champions league spot (5th) and well within reach of Europa, with what is effectively a mini-tournament (that will throw out some strange results) left to play. I think Sean should play his strongest team and see where it takes us.
Europe, never mind 5th, might be out of sight after a few games in which case I agree - start planning for next season!

With the SPL ending early, and presumably a delay until they can play with crowds again, I can’t imagine Celtic are cash rich at the moment. Question for me is whether his heads gone?

It might not be about money. If we’re honest he’s achieved all he can at Burnley. He won’t better the 7th place finish whilst here. If he’s honest, no club doing better than us in the pitch will want him. He won’t improve 95% of PL clubs. He might be after a new challenge. I’m sure a few Championship sides will be interested.
Clubs will be far more interested in free agents at the minute.

All players who have contracts beyond the end of this season will be relieved. Those who's contracts end at the end of this season will be worrying what happens next. I can't see many of them making a move and getting a big pay day with the move. if football is playing with in closed stadiums until the end of the year, there will be a lot of clubs asking themselves where can we save money. "Big pay days" signing free agents doesn't seem to me to be top of the action list - more likely a buyers' market than a sellers' market whenever the transfer window opens.

He is missing playing in training sessions against Arfield and wants to train against him again in the old firm. And it has been leaked by a trusted source for those in the loop. I'm shocked you haven't been privy to this actually.

I can't find anything other than this excerpt from a FIFA statement from beginning of April re. extending players' contracts which were due to expire on 30 June 2020.
"Expiring player contracts usually end when the season ends, with a termination date that coincides with the end of the season. With the current suspension of play in most countries, it is now obvious that the current season will not end when people thought it would," the world governing body for football said in an online statement.
"Therefore, it is proposed that contracts be extended until such time that the season does actually end," said the body, which is tasked with protecting the proper functioning of contests."

Indeed, Chester.
TBH I thought I'd seen something along those lines but have lost track with all sorts of things. I can't even remember where I live

.
Seriously though, thanks for that.
“So, it was agreed by all Shareholders that clubs and players can mutually agree to extend their contracts beyond 30 June until the end of the season.
The following sentence seems to me to be a potential source of problems.
"Players can extend their contracts beyond 30 June until the end of the season, but it must be agreed by both parties."
Clubs and players will now have until 23 June to agree extension.”
I don’t know what you think but giving both parties up to 23 June to decide seems a bit late to me.

It is likely the restart will be the 26th so timely - the wording is such that it recognises that players have the right to not play on - some may not have deals to move on to at other clubs by then - they are free to talk now - so may want the opportunity for an extra payday

I think if he had any hopes of a bumper " signing on " fee, because he's a free agent, they will have diminished greatly !

I've resigned myself to him leaving. The new contract will have been on the table for a long time, and he hasn't yet signed. IMHO, only the collapse of any potential new clubs financial power (thereby affecting what they could offer him) would see him extend here I fancy. I think under those circumstances, as much as I like Jeff, he still has to leave. I imagine he's not overly happy here, and that can and does lead to problems in the dressing room. As a fan, I wouldn't be happy having players around who were drawing a good wage whilst wishing they were elsewhere.

From the Guardian tonight:
"The most likely dates for a restart are either the 19 or 26 of June, but every week that the season continues beyond 16 July will cost the competition roughly £36m in rebates to broadcasters such as Sky and BT, an issue that is to be the subject of a further meeting on Thursday."

Bloody hell. The Guardian has written an article that’s not about Dominic Cummings
In all honesty, £36m - they should crack on and get it finished then. Only way to get fit is play matches, so get going - first few games will be slower as you’d expect at the start of any season.

Not that fussed about him re signing personally. If anything though we are probably more likely to resign existing players as I can’t see us splashing out big fees on new players in this market.

In all seriousness if Milan are sniffing around, Hendrick won’t want to put that move in jeopardy so it’s time to bid goodbye and get Brownhill blooded in. Perfect scenario for him to get up to speed.

I like Hendrick, but if he goes, he goes. I would be more pleased to see a fully fit JBG (and I mean long term fitness) in our starting eleven for the start up after lock down, and for the beginning of next season. I rate him highly and he's the kind of player we need in the PL.

Come on now, some people rate him, some people don’t. It’s no biggy.
When you’re trying to get to sleep tonight, replay all the pleasurable moments Hendrick has given you over the last 4 years? That’ll pass about a minute of your time.
