$6M - seriously?
Dave Gilmour's Black Strat raised $4M and, whilst still a ridiculous amount of money, was better "value" than this self-righteous, talentless hack's Martin...

He could’ve bought Joe Hart in 2018 for that.

I am, of course, referring to his guitar playing, not his songwriting.

Impossible to put a price tag on items like this. They are "worth" as much as anyone is willing to pay.

Anyways, he was hardly talentless and I wouldn't have classed him as self-righteous, certainly not by todays standards. He was more self-hating if anything.

I was going to say, ‘self-righteous’ is the last think you could accuse Cobain / Nirvana of being.

Pink Floyd on the other hand... ;)

It was far from Nirvanas normal performance and probably the most famous live performance of all time.

You speak truth. End of thread.

It's not a particularly good guitar either. Martin do make some exceptional acoustic guitars but that isn't one of them.

At least the person who bought it is going to use it to raise money for charities.

I tend to think that self righteous is people saying ‘end of thread’ because they think there is nothing to add. 😊

One of the most recognised but it isn't as famous as Queen/Live Aid

Of course, I meant as an individual one off gig.

As a one off band performances not associated with a festival/live aid. I’d say so yes. I know loads did MTV Unplugged but they didn’t all do it on the same day etc.

So yeah, I’d say so. I’m not an Nirvana fan btw. That’s just how I see it. I can’t think of another band gig that comes close.

If that's worth six million I wonder what Bowie's blue acoustic would go for.

I think that guitar is currently valued at $1.4m

Which wasn't as good as George thorogood and the destroyers who did a bit of a Denmark, coming on as a late replacement and then won live aid.

The same one the ‘bum’ notes were played on during “the man who sold the world”.

He never got over that...

Agree with Dyched’s view that the performance was one of the big , iconic performances in rock music history. I always think of the incredible power and emotion he put into the old Leadbelly song In The Pines . A tremendous vocal from someone whose aura is sadly increased by dying young.
