Weekend's footy

So Villa-Wolves kicks us off at lunchtime, the big news is DD is on the Villa bench, and perhaps surprisingly Traore is dropped to the bench for Wolves, mind you he's not a bad sub to unleash when defenders are tiring, shows the depth in Wolves squad these days.
Why are the Championship games all staggered KO'S today, 3 at 12.30, 2 at 1.00, and 4 at 3.00, can't be for telly surely, just seems strange, but there must be a logic behind it somewhere.

2 of the games are for TV.
12.30: Preston-Cardiff both on 57 points, with both needing a win to keep a point ahead of Rovers (when they beat Wigan).
15.00: Then the Leeds-Fulham game.

I think Traore was sub their last game - so not dropped.
I wish we’d have got him from Middlesbrough...he (or his type) would take a lot of pressure off our back 4 and defensive midfield.
DD is referred to as Daniel on TV line-up!
not seen his ‘Sunday’ name used previously...maybe they’re trying to erase memories of his previous performances!

No Traore started against Bournemouth, he was a sub against West Ham and came on with devastating affect, it's a great problem for Nuno to have, and it doesn't half give opposition managers headaches, if he starts he can be a danger, but if he comes off the bench facing tiring players, he can be even more dangerous as space appears for him to operate in, even his pure pace means teams can't push up, as there's always the threat of the ball behind if they leave open space, he must be a godsend to his teammates, even hopeful balls can be turned into possession with him in the vicinity, he'll pose us a problem in a few weeks, although given we tend to defend fairly deep anyway, he might not find it as easy against us.
Drinkwater being recalled smacks of desperation from Dean Smith, Villa need wins, and they need them fast, can't see them getting any joy today though, this Wolves side is on a roll, and they're eyeing up a top 4 place, which is by no means outwith their reach, incredible really considering their slow start to the campaign.

Charlton 1 up against QPR, be a big 3 points for them.

Could do with a Cardiff goal. A draw is perfect for Rovers. And a Swansea win.

Derby winning. Takes them above Rovers.

Watching villa v wolves and Traore getting ready to come on but he’s taping up his wrists. Why do some footballers do this? Is there a reason because I can’t fathom it.

Derby 2 up another goal for Rooney, forgot he was there, we could do with Millwall & Swansea shaking a leg 2nd half, doesn't surprise me the PNE game is a draw, that was always going to be tight.

Possibly to strengthen wrists when holding off players with palm of hand?
Who knows.

Looking grim for Villa, they've had injuries again to make their day even worse, Wolves could yet finish ahead of Leicester and Chelsea, they're in a rich vein of form right now, and can't stop winning, Traore involved instantly in the lead up to the goal.

If Villa go down, why would Dyche go there when there's more chance of me playing for them next season than the likes of Jack Grealish?
They will be stripped bare of every good player they have. It will be a massive building job for the next manager.

And they have the worst defensive record in the league. I enjoy watching them if only to try and work out how on earth Mings gets in the England squad when Tarkowski can’t. I’ve not worked it out yet.

I can see Leicester dropping out of the top 4 the way Wolves and United are going. Since the turn of the year they've barely won a game.

Swansea making a horlicks of it what the blazes is wrong with these bloomin teams, could be a good day for Derby, they're closing in on the top 6.
1-1 at nobbers.

Could have really done with Cardiff winning that one, as I don't think Preston are good enough to keep Rovers out of the top 6. Cardiff more likely to.

Reminds me of Fulham last season with the money they spent and the players never really gelled .
I know people will not agree with me but Norwich really did it right this season as only spent a small amount and took the chance of going back down but with a hope to be better next season bounce back up with a better side become a yoyo team then find their feet in the Prem . I am sure other sides have had that idea how to come to terms with the Prem but i cant think who

If Villa take the plunge, i can't see them keeping hold of Grealish, Mings could also attract interest, and maybe a few others, the big issue for me is they lack characters, that's why Heaton's such a big loss for them, as he's constantly talking throughout the game, and ensuring he's marshalling the defence, they look leaderless out there.

Maddison and Vardy have gone off the boil since Xmas, that's why they've struggled, and they definitely need to start putting points on the board ASAP.

The good news is if Cardiff hang on, then even a victory for Rovers tomorrow won't put them in the top 6, but the way this bunch are shipping points like a sieve, it wouldn't surprise me if they scrambled in on the final day.
2-1 at Derby now.

Good that could be a tricky game at Wigan, the eggchasers have suddenly hit some form, i'm hoping Rovers drop a couple of points at least.

Villa, West Ham and Bournemouth all on 27 points.
Maybe it'll go right down to the wire, but I suppose Villa can write off the next two games.

Given the nature of this league. i wouldn't class any game as easy, but looking at those fixtures you'd imagine they'd need 4 points minimum from the Wigan & Barnsley games, hopefully their challenge will falter once they face the big guns, but i wouldn't bank on it, this league's virtually impossible to predict, that's why i hate when it's the Champ games on Super 6.
