Where did he play? Couldn’t work out the formation after he came on?

.... might’ve helped if my hands weren’t covering my eyes!

We went 5-4-1 with him joining Mee and Tarkowski at centre half.

Thought so, thanks.

Was the “out of position” comment that threw me.

Another top pro. Lucky to have him.

Two fantastic blocks at least.
One for a certain goal.

Can't fault the guy really.

He's unlikely ever to be first pick but his choice is to stay - but stays and works.
(A good bloke by many accounts too).

Can’t fault his professionalism

Knows he’s never going to be first choice, but when asked to do a job, knows what to do and can be relied upon.

Might be my mistake but I thought he was a striker

He's here, he's there...but can mostly be seen on the bench.

I thought he replaced Mee in the back four next to Tarky with Ben moving over to his old position of left back.

In fact, I'm sure I heard Dyche shouting that out when the substitution was being made.

When he came on, Long was indicating to Mee & Tarks, “5” with his hand which I assumed to be 5 at the back

He actually misjudged the flight of the ball on 2 or 3 occasions and looked extremely rusty - which is understandable, I guess. However, he did get one brilliant block in and now is not really the time to be criticising any of our players. Well done, big Kev.

I've been watching football for a long time and can't genuinely recall any other olayer like Kevin Long. To be at one club for so long(over 10 years?) and appear so infrequently is unique in my experience. Understandable that he was 'rusty' but that will remain the case I suppose whilst the central pairing remain so strong. Seen lots of 'utility' players down the years at various clubs(Paul Madeley at Leeds probably the best of them) but to have a player with possibly more international caps than first team starts is very unusual.(stand to be corrected in that).

He meant that Mee was to move over to be the left side in the 3 central defenders

Like an outfield Steve Harper at Newcastle, except for the international caps.

A great performance and as said, a magnificent club servant.

Would have no qualms at all with him coming in for the Blades game.
