As it stands neither Bournemouth nor Norwich can now reach the 45 points we’ve got.

Aston Villa can get 45 but would have to win every remaining game. That would mean them beating West Ham who then could only get 45. West Ham would then have to beat Watford who would then only be able to get 43 points.

That means we are mathematically safe and can look forward to a fifth successive season in the Premier League.

The way some of this bottom lot are playing, not very many. I said when we beat Bournemouth and went from 34 to 37 that we’d got enough. I don’t think I’d change that now. Maybe about 35 at a guess.

And what a fantastic performance to do so given following the
3-0 loss to Chelsea in mid-January where we were just 3 points above the
bottom three and looking as if we could be in a serious relegation scrap
especially as we had, I think, Leicester and Man United to play in our next two games
which we as it happens we won.
To come back from that was more than decent and a credit to Dyche and the players.

We could end up with 50+ points and possibly a chance of European football
albeit I don't think we'll do it and it might just be a relief if we don't.
Don't really fancy going into Europe again especially with the numbers we currently have.

We'd need another 4 players at least and can't imagine our Chairman too keen
on bringing another 4 in.
He might sanction another two at best and that would depend on how much it might cost.
We might have to sell/sacrifice one or two of our best players ( McNeil and/or Tarkowski)
to generate additional funds to bring three or four in.

33 points should be sufficient now.
Would be v surprised if either Villa or Bournemouth pick up 7 points from their remaining fixtures.

It hasnt been in question for some time now. But always good to get it confirmed. Our form post chelsea has been incredible.

Yes that Villa game is possibly our worst performance since Hull Boxing Day 2015, and we know what happened then, the last 2 seasons we've been in the sticky stuff around the Xmas/NY, and we've managed to find a way to battle our way out of trouble, this shows we have the character when the going gets tough, that's important but it would be easier on the blood pressure, if we weren't down there in the 1st place.

Congrats to Sean and the lads for securing another PL season, 5 on the bounce is no easy task for a club of our means, and there's plenty who've speculated 100's of millions, and not had the desired result, and we've still got a shot at Europe again, that's no mean feat, and even if we don't manage top 8, we've got a very good chance of another top 10 finish, that must be considered a successful campaign in anyone's book.

TBH Iwas reading through some old threads and thought we were going down this time. How wrong can you be. We need to keep and invest in Dyche to our maximum capacity.

Don't be so sure, I was in William Hills in Brierfield earlier, bloke who looked a lot like Mike Garlick put a million on, at 100 to 1, for us to go down......hope the Administrators are busy.

And yet, had we taken our chances in the second half we'd have won it. And the next game against Chelsea was harsh because some decisions really went against us. Even so, it amounted to four successive defeats with the next three against Leicester, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Yes it used to be the reverse, we'd be strong until Christmas, and then injuries and suspensions would kick in, or we'd be forced to sell in January, and we'd plummet down the table, and that was true even in many of our lower division seasons.

To put 2020 into perspective we've lost to Villa, and that was a rocky horror picture show, Chelsea and Man City, our wins include Leicester, Man Utd at OT, and we've drawn with Arsenal & Tottenham in games we probably should have won. And crucially the games we were tipped to win we did win.

That was massive - but for me equally important in that match was his brilliant save to his right in the first minute of the second half that stopped them going two up - would have been tough to come from two down. Both crucial saves that sparked our revival.

Not to mention the Mee handball not given. We played well against Leicester that day but also rode our luck.

Until the Villa game we had mostly beaten those below us and lost to those above. Villa was a shock.

It's a fine achievement to be comfortably staying up with six games to go.
