Many recently questioned his ambition at not moving on and they may be right but the club is richer for having such loyal players.
Whatever he achieves in the game I don't think he will ever forget today and being part of the Dyche era and what it has done for the club and us fans

Yep,but lets hope Sean doesn’t think he can replace Tarky when the window opens cos he’s different class. What a header he won to set up Jayrod !

Keeps getting new contracts so he is doing something right.
Seems to have cut out the silly mistakes he made earlier in his career.
Plays as though he has been there long term.

The way he cleared the danger, stopping clear cut opening for them early in the first half was brilliant.

Thought he did really well today. Not good enough to be a first choice at this level but as good a fourth choice as a side like us could wish for at this level.

Fair play today - excellent!

Isn't he 3rd choice? Gibson is no choice at all.

Struggled against West Ham but was very good today. He’s never let us down when called upon.

Fantastic. Not phased by Liverpool at all. Now lets get in a similar left sided centre half. Makes Gibson look like an idiot.

I'm one of those who gets nervous when I see his name in the starting XI.....but he is always solid at worst in all fairness.

I think this is probably because we have been spoilt over recent years with outstanding centre halves who have big boots to fill.

Played really well today!

Disappointed SD didn't throw him up front for last 10 mins to get a winner

Dyche also said in his post match interview that he is carrying calf and back injuries and he just never complains and gets on with it !

He played at old trafford a couple of years ago and had Zlatan in his pocket. They took him off at half time.

Massive respect, he’s earned himself a nice living and deserves.

Happy to accept he’s good enough to sit behind two of the best for the last 4-5 years!

He’s a player who shouldn’t ever be judged off stats, I’d imagine Mee, Keane, Duff, Tarky would rave about him

Home he finishes his career with us

Still think he will make a centre forward in time

Classic example of an exemplary pro who has bought into the Dyche mentality - if you do the job as instructed - and i'm sure we are meticulous in our preparation - then limited ability (no disrespect to Kevin but we are talking about a team in the top half of the PL challenging for a EL place) is no barrier to being a valued and effective member of the group

To a lesser extent you can put Bardsley, Pieters and Vydra into the same category - long periods out of the starting line-up and then slot in like they've never been away

I'm hoping this is a huge factor in SD staying - would he ever go anywhere and find a group with this character, mentality, resilience and willingness to wait patiently for their chance

Do they still do Testimonials? Kevin deserves his.

Long periods on loan, in the reserves, on the bench and walks into Anfield as if he's played every game of the last ten years in the Premier League

Some questioned Dyche, me included when Long got a new contract whilst out with a knee injury.
How wrong we were how right was Dyche.

Have we ever seen him have a run of 10 games?

If only more players had his attitude - I hope he is sending his match shirts signed by the team to Gibson each week.

Think Long and to some extent Bardsley are playing better now than at any time in their career.
This is not surprising (when they are coached and obviously take it all in) by SD and DW and expect them to get better and better next season
Same goes for Nick Pope and the other keepers with the excellent Billy Mercer

Long has always been Premier League class. Isn't he first name on the ROI team sheet? Only reason he's not in the team every week is because Mee and Tarks rarely have bad games. They are undroppable.

Slotted in well as he does. Good servant to BFC. Some players would rather play fewer games at a higher level. Some would prefer to play lots more at a lower level but chase the cash. Long played against the best yesterday. He can always tell his grandchildren that and that fact he played in the PL. Compare this to someone like Craig Bryson.

I’m sure Long will be getting paid a very healthy amount by us and I dare say he’d earn less at a lower level playing more.

He could earn less but not necessarily as there are plenty of clubs prepared to pay more at a lower level such as Derby in the example I used. The point is he is content being loyal and playing games as and when they come. Making ‘some’ PL appearances has no doubt raised his status in the ROI squads too.

I find it strange, that someone who has obviously worked hard to carve out a career in football, is happy to sit on the bench for the vast majority of each season.

It’s great for us to have someone that appears to be happy playing a bit part, I just can’t understand why (apart from possibly financial reasons) he’d be happy to do so.

Hopefully he won’t look back and wish he’d gone elsewhere for more game time.

Maybe he is just in a good place - despite the universal opinion on here that all footballers chase the dollar, want to play at a higher level etc. some are ok where they are and still work hard.

He has remained a claret because we have obviously looked after him over the years financially.

In the past his performances at this level have been
inconsistent, he has the remaining games to prove himself. So far so good, he has been excellent

Kevin long has been a fantastic servant to bfc, never seen to sulk when not picked, after filling in admirably for an injured player, but also bfc have made him a multi millionaire don't forget, but never lets us down ,and long may it continue, good lad keV👍
