9 clubs voted to keep 5 subs and 11 clubs voted against. It was 16-4 in favour for project restart but thankfully thrown out for the full season.

I think it is safe to say the 9 clubs will have big squads.

I think we know that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Spurs will be in the nine. Wouldn't like to hazard a guess at the other three to be honest.

I've changed the thread title to avoid starting another thread

Clubs have agreed to adopt the FIFA protocol for VAR (vote was unanimous) - should see some changes particularly with the referees looking at the monitors more often.

Well. as VAR is not being turned off ( my preference ) I hope the club has used the off time to put a second screen up at the turf, just in case we ever get to watch live again. Got very ****** off with not being able to see what was going on from the Longside

Bizarre, thats like you buying a 2nd 3rd 4th etc TV with nowhere to put it.

I wonder why it cant go on top of the other disabled stand.

I can't remember the exact reasoning but you couldn't put it there because of the access required to that stand. The obvious solution would be the diagonal corner to where the screen is now but there's no proper corner there because of the misaligned Bob Lord and cricket field stands.

So we are saying they bought a new big screen without planning where to put it ! Can't believe they couldn't have included it in the plans for the built in corner. Real incompetence is that. Something that the supporters club should be raising

Something the Supporters Club should be raising? - Burnley FC Supporters Groups have raised it on a number of occasions but there is no way it could have been built into the plans for that corner if you go and look, there is no room for it so that's not incompetence, it was never going there.

This is from the Guardian, who report it was voted overwhelmingly to return to three subs. No more drinks breaks either, thankfully.
Leagues are free to determine whether to introduce the measure and at the Premier League’s AGM on Thursday clubs voted overwhelmingly against it. They will return to making a maximum of three substitutes from a bench of seven players.

The five-substitutes rule was widely perceived to favour bigger clubs with deeper squads. The use of drinks breaks during each half is another measure that will not feature next season.

The 20 shareholders – which for the first time included the promoted sides Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham – held preliminary discussions over a plan for curtailment should the necessity arise in the event of a resurgence of the coronavirus.

The league also confirmed that it would fully implement Fifa’s VAR protocols from next season. The controversial technology had been used differently in England to a number of other countries, including a recommendation that referees should not use their pitchside monitors.

That's fine but surely before it was purchased they must have considered just where they would put it!

Apparently some bloke shouted β€œYou buy one, you get one free, I said, you buy one, you get one free!” and they just went for it.

As regards the VAR change, I'm all for the ref looking at the monitor. There's so many rules where it states "in the opinion of the referee". When another referee has been overruling on the pitch decisions from a room somewhere it doesn't make 100% sense, decisions should have consistency.

As for the goalkeeper off the line for penalties, not sure I agree with that one. It's virtually impossible to move your feet perfectly sideways on the line when diving and the odds are so stacked against keepers anyway...

The odds should be stacked against keepers though as penalties are, well a penalty against the offending team.

Yeah, and as I said, the odds are stacked against them so no need to make it impossible, otherwise just award a goal rather than a penalty under your rational as it's virtually impossible not to put one foot slightly forward when diving to the side so if they are really true to it then theoretically they would just keep retaking until they scored.

How interesting that the teams with huge squads are the ones claiming to struggle to field a team while the clubs with smaller squads seem to manage OK. Almost as if it was nothing to do with injuries at all, just a way of trying to get another advantage over the clubs with less money. I hope I'm not being over-cynical there.

I have used my experience as a footballer and as a spectator to come up with what I think is a workable system for these clubs like Man City. What they could do, if their players are unable to play 2 games in a week, is this - only play them for 1 game. Put someone else in the team for the other game. Revolutionary, I know, but if they leave out the unfit players, they can perhaps avoid too many injuries.

And another revolutionary idea - if you don't have 7 outfield players who can manage a full 90 minutes, then perhaps you need to work on your fitness.
