Gareth Bale
Gareth Bale
What a senseless waste of talent. It’s staggering that he is happy to sit on the sidelines collecting a wage. He will no doubt sit in his mansion in later years regretting these decisions
Re: Gareth Bale
Nah. If Madrid/Zidane want to treat him like a dick, I say well done him on taking the **** and making them look stupid.
It’s always the players who get called out whenever a situation arises. When good players don’t sign new contracts etc, they get called out. When players don't play, they get called out for being lazy and so on.
Bale is obviously talented. It seems from the outside more personal than anything. If he doesn’t want to leave or nobody can match his current wage (let’s face it Madrid are one of/if not the biggest company in the industry what he’s in) why would he go somewhere lesser for less money?.

Still got 2 years left on his deal. Sounds like he's made it clear unless someone matches his wage he'll sit his contract out and play golf in the sun for another 2 years

Re: Gareth Bale
Will he? 4 champions league, 3 World club cup, 2Super Cup and 3 La Liga and £50m in the bank, and he’s shown ZZ is a poor man manager.
Re: Gareth Bale
Another way would be to loan him out with Madrid paying part of his wage, or sell him at a reduced fee to compensate for his wage
Re: Gareth Bale
Did the issues not start prior to ZZ’s arrival?

Re: Gareth Bale
I think it’s hilarious, but I’m not keen on Madrid.
He will never look back on his career as a waste. Can’t think of any other British player so decorated.
He seems keen to get some personal revenge on Madrid, that or he is only motivated by money, either of which are unprofessional (but funny if you don’t like them)
In fairness though he was off to China (suggesting he is only motivated by money) but Madrid pulled the plug/changed the terms at the last minute so they’re stuck with him now

Re: Gareth Bale
I'm sure he won't regret much tbh.
Scored some vital goals in big finals, getting paid a ridiculous amount of money and has a manager who cited Bale as one of the reasons why he left the other year.
Bale won't be arsed, he's got enough money to be set for life and well within his rights to see out his contract that they were stupid enough to give him.

Re: Gareth Bale
Sort of; Zidane quit originally in part due to Bale being there when he didn’t want him. When he came back he made it clear that getting rid of Bale (and Rodriguez!) was non-negotiable.
Bale would have gone to China last summer if it wasn’t for Real Madrid suddenly deciding that they wanted a fee for him and calling the deal off. At that point Bale was left in a situation where the manager doesn’t want him, the President has removed his support from him, the club as a whole don’t want him but they won’t let him go for free when there is NO club on earth that could afford a transfer fee AND Bale’s wages.
At this point I’m with Bale- he’s been frozen out and screwed about by his employers. He’s doing exactly the right thing IMHO.

As he's got plenty of money and loves his Golf, perhaps he fancies a couple of seasons at a Club, not an hour's drive from 3 Open Championship courses ( Royal Lytham, Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool ( Hoylake ) ....
How does £30,000 a week, and a Sean Dyche omelette sound, Gareth ?

Re: Gareth Bale
I've never seen Bale have a bad game for them, he won the Champios League for them, on his own against Liverpool.
He sat on the bench, and when called on always delivered. Winning goals, match winning crosses.
Imo ZZ has a problem with anyone he sees bigger than himself. It can't be coincidence that Ronaldo left as well. Considering Bale has done sod all wrong, he's quite right to sit tight and let them pay him to do it. They've treated him badly, so he owes them nothing.

Quite right to throw his dummy out of the pram. Lined up for a monster move to China, not that he needs it, and RM, who have stalled his playing career for two years, pull the plug for no sound reason. Feck em. Sit and take the readies.

If they cared about him he'd just be loaned out for next to nothing just like the rest of their other rejects but it's just become a matter of pride (or stubbornness).

To be honest I couldn't care less whether he plays or not and I am sick of reading every close season about his contract and possible transfer which never happens for all the obvious reasons.
Same goes for Ozil, Aubameyang, Pogba (still waiting for his pre season tantrum), Zaha and all the other regulars that kick off at this time of year.

But he hasn’t refused to play for two years. ZZ has refused to pick him and in the process has appeared to take delight in embarrassing him by making it obvious he doesn’t rate him. As mentioned above Ronaldo left under his management also. His ego is getting in the way of his sense.

Bales hasn't refused to play, far from it
If hed been dropped because he was off form, or inconsistent you could understand RMs position, but this is purely down to ZZ having personality clashes with star players.
He signed a contract to play, but Zidane won't let him. I fail to see what Bale has done wrong.

I don't think he's incompetent, just his ego is too big for the job. He was used to being the star player on the pitch, and he wants to remain the star now he's off it.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 11:12 amIt's just what happens when world-class brilliance meets world-class incompetence

I don't care how much money he's got and how many trophies he's won - when it's all over he will regret losing part of his career and having his reputation tarnished. That will be true whether he admits it or not. Must be dreadful turning up to work when you know you're not wanted.

Re: Gareth Bale
If Real Madrid want to pay Gareth Bale a king's ransom to improve his golf handicap more fool them, they'd be better letting him go to China, and spending the money they'd save on wages on younger talent, but if he's making himself available for selection, and ZZ chooses not to pick him, then Zidane is cutting off his nose to spite his face, and Madrid are the one's losing out in the long run not Bale.

He's being quite open today about the fact he came to Spurs to get match fit in time for the Euros for Wales and intends to return to Real for next season as he still has a year left on his contract..
He needs to be careful, if Hazard is still struggling Bale might actually need to play.

Re: Gareth Bale
No sympathy whatsoever for Madrid. They are like a kid with a new toy when it comes to players. They buy the latest craze and when they get bored they cast them off and move them on. There will be many more but just off the top of my head now we have Hazard, Schneider, jovic, Navas and going further back Owen, Woodgate, Kaka etc. It becomes boring. Well done to Bale I would do the same.

To be fair to Real, they've been unlucky with Hazard suddenly becoming injury prone and the same when they signed Woodgate.

No wonder that old codger Perez was crying about how only Madrid and Barca lose money in La Liga, why did nobody tell him it's probably because of signings like Bale. Barca ready to let Pjanic leave for free (signed last summer), Coutinho for £20M (they paid £140m).
It's hardly surprising these two sides are losing money with transfer business that's allover the place.

I've even less sympathy after the way Barca poached Braithwaite outside of the transfer window claiming it was an emergency signing, from a club battling relegation.
I hope this bites them on the arse for years to come yet

Would be lovely if Barcelona got into serious trouble and ended up f**ked for years. There boring desperation to keep hold of Messi and giving into everything he asks only to play out the will he wont he sign carry on 12 months later is tiresome.
Miles away from the Champions League and now finishing out the top 2 in a 2 horse race is very nice. I am convinced in 20 years time Messi will have signed another 12 month deal on 4m a day while pleading poverty and coming 14th in the league.
