Likely to have a huge impact on the ecological and economic wellbeing of Mauritius. Our thoughts go out to our favourite Mauritian Dave and his family.

That's really sad news. Having spent a wonderful week there, the people couldn't be friendlier, and the island so unspoilt.
These disasters always run their course, but even so the immediate negative impact, especially to the environment can be horrific.
If Dave reads this, our fingers are crossed for you.

It’s down in the SE corner of the island, near the airport.
What the hell is a ship doing that close to land when there are known coral reefs there.
Best wishes and hopes for a satisfactory outcome.

Huge disaster. Mauritius is so beautiful and the people so friendly. The reefs are just awesome. Thoughts go out to DaveManu. Let’s hope the World helps them clean up this environmental disaster.
