Not much sport to talk about so:
Presently considering what type of flooring to install in a new property.
Needs to look good, be easy to clean and be scratch resistant.
Anyone out there with opinions both good or bad on the different options and any recommendations for fitters of same??

One of my neighbors has a concrete floor, which I really like, we put a stamped concrete drive in on a previous home, which looked great and made the house stand out. If we were to put a new floor in I think I would like this, we put a new large area of flooring in a few years ago and went with wood and really like it, but concrete is an option you might not have thought of and could be potentially cheaper.

Thanks for the replies. Think I will give indoor grass a miss and I may have passed the point constructionwise where concrete was an option.

We’ve Karndean in the kitchen and was told it wouldn’t scratch. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.

It doesn't scratch unless you scratch it. . Great stuff and well worth the extra few quid.

Concrete and micro concrete can be laid just as easy in any home as wooden floors, cheaper than hardwood floors for example but am sure not as cheap as Karndean but will last much longer and look much better. Bottom line is always cost and why you want it, for example your own home versus a renovation in something you want to lease.

Concrete floors look outstanding with the right furniture. Been considering doing the bathroom with micro concrete.

Ahhh, so you're not from North London or Burnley then

Another recommendation for Karndean, we had it throughout the downstairs in our last house, the bathroom flooded and the water just sat on it waiting to be mopped up. It was absolutely flawless still.

David Hartley does it in Burnley, had it done in our new house recently by Inspired Flooring in Barnoldswick. There is a new version that doesn’t need to be protected, can’t remember what it’s called though!

I don't blame you about the grass, the smell lingers for ages indoors so it's always best to smoke it out in the garden. As for the flooring, it's never too late for a barrow load of sawdust, or lino if you're one of those upmarket, aspirational fancy-Dans.

Natural wood flooring always looks the best if it’s properly done. Laminate looks like laminate no matter what you do with it. Can’t beat aged natural wood stained and lacquered correctly

Hardwood or Engineered wood? Have put engineered wood in two renovation projects in the last 4 years, both look good, one with underfloor heating that works well.

Amtico for LVT is the best option. You pay a bit more though I think they have a lifetime guarantee.

Porcelaine tiles - I've got them over most of the ground floor. Just needs sweeping and mopping.

We have solid wood throughout the downstairs, Karndean in the office.

The wood looks good, as does the Karndean but that is easier to keep looking neat and tidy.

I would not change either, not sure I'd have Karndean throughout the house.

If you're going down the LVT route then Amtico is far superior to Karndean. Yes, it is a bit more expensive but you get at least an extra 30% wear layer, so definitely worth the extra.

Carpet......can look good, comfy on your toes, easy to clean and doesnt scratch.
