22yr old Ben White is apparently valued at £50 million despite only having played championship or lower level football.

Anyone seen him play?

Should help us recoup the money for Gibson if that's the case :D

He's worth what someone is willing to pay, Chelsea are sniffing.

Showing my ignorance but who is he and who does he play for. Suppose I could google it but quite like conversation.

He’s an outstanding defender. Leeds had him on loan from Brighton and he was their player of the season.

£50 million seems a little strong for someone who has yet to make a top flight appearance.

If he's worth 50 million what must Tarks be worth considering he's an experienced PL defender and an England International?

Unfortunately for us, Tarks is worth more than his £50M release clause.

Tarks is currently worth his 50m release fee, minus Brentfords 20% cut.

Next summer with 12 months left on his contract probably half that amount.

Ridiculous for someone who has never played in the top division. He may well prove to be worth that kind of fee in the future, as he certainly shows lots of promise, but you'd have to have more money than sense to gamble that kind of wedge.
Brighton are entitled to ask what they like for him, just as we are entitled to ask what we want for our players. If we lose either of Tarks, McNeil or Pope this window, I only hope we make someone pay through the nose as well. We need the players more than the money.

It's certainly a gamble but at his age if it comes off they've got a defender for about ten seasons paying £5m a pop.

I still think it's crazy that they would pay so much for a player who hasn't appeared in the Prem yet though.

Chelsea certainly splashing the cash this summer that's for sure...

What's the record fee for a player with only championship experience?

Bellingham at Birmingham went for 26m didn't he?

Often a big difference between what some one is "valued" at and what's he's sold for.

There's talk of Lewis Dunk going to Chelsea, so I assumed Brighton would be wanting to keep Ben White.

Well they did overpay for that lump Maguire. However, he did have Premier League experience.

My LUFC season ticket holding next door neighbour reckons he’s the best player to play for Leeds for quite some time, and thinks that he’s definitely a future England player. Got age on his side and obviously has potential. Makes you wonder why Brighton sent him out on loan really.
