Bangkok Clarets
Bangkok Clarets
Claret Diver's message in the Foreign Clarets thread prompted me to get around to asking: I've just moved to Bangkok, searching out fellow Clarets/likely spots to watch the games.

I did think that but didn't want to presume! Enjoy...the people are awesome, I have many many years of good memories out there. Been travelling there since 99 and lived for 6 years down in the islands (Koh Tao and Koh Samui)....
Re: Bangkok Clarets
Thanks! - Really looking forward to it. I'm sure we'll be heading to the Islands at some point soon, so I will look out for your mates' bar.

Always wonder what Koh Tao is like today as it was very low key in 92 when i was there , i remember Phi Phi Island in 89 and there was only 3 places to stay .ClaretDiver wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 9:10 amI did think that but didn't want to presume! Thailand is a footballing country. Its the second favourite sport!!! You'll find many bars showing the football. You'll see the local buses adorned with Liverpool and Man U badges etc. They are the big two there. But you can educate them!!!

Re: Bangkok Clarets
I spent nearly 4 years on Tao. It is a very different island to what you would remember....however, still doesn't have any of the fast food chains etc. It's mainly a diving Mecca TBH! I taught there during my time there...

Mate, I still call it and know it as Burma. We used to do the 'Burma Bounce' for visas!
Thankfully the local governors have so far refused permission for crap like Maccas, KFC ect so you have some awesome farang places set up....loved my time there!

Ahhh yes Farang the name we were called .
Now as for the "Burma bounce " what was the problem with the dropping into down south to the Mayla border or across the Lao border ?

ClaretDiver - I got my open water and advanced in Koh Tao back in 2012 at Big Blue - best thing I've ever done.

Yes they seem mad keen on Liverpool here, Looking forward to taking in a local thai game. The education has begun! I'm reasonably close to Chonburi yes, about 50 miles north.Stayingup wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 3:33 pmThailand is a footballing country. Its the second favourite sport!!!
