Co Op have opened more than 50 new stores per year for the last 5 years. Around 80-100 in most years. They have been prolific with openings in the south and have been the main player in the market bypassing Tesco & Sainsbury’s. The newly branded blue shops have dragged them into the 21st century and the extensive refurbishment programme should continue to see them as market leaders in convenience shopping. It’s all at the Co Op now but no Green Shield stamps
