Looking through the tv listings and have discovered that Sky arts is now on freeview. Some great documentaries on there. Tomorrow at 3pm there is a Fairport Convention special covering their 50 year history.

Just spotted that the channel had popped up on the listings this morning. Also Rolling Stones in Hyde Park on later today -- for ladies and gentlemen of a certain age! Beats all the talent shows and Little Mix type shite that's on nowadays. . .

Sky Arts is probably the best channel for 60's, 70's and 80's music and Yesterday has some good Sounds of the 60's and 70's programmes.

It's a good channel. I got it when I got Virgin cable way back. Initially they had 2 channels, one was more "high brow" (opera, classical music, visual arts etc) the other more "popular" (quality end of IMO).
A few years ago they cut the channels to one which now is mixed. I'm not much interested in classical music/opera but they have some good cinema-related progs on where they look at the careers of specific directors/film stars; there was a very good Albert Finney one on recently.
The music stuff is good; Ive seen the Fairport prog before and really liked it. They've got a 2.5 hour prog tomorrow about The Hollies which I've not yet seen.
Taking out sports, this channel is one of the two or three I watch much. They do the old "Tales of the Unexpected" series during the day too- quite entertaining but Ive seen them all now. There are some great cast members in those half hour pieces; some already famous & some famous since. One of the few channels I bother checking the listings of each morning.

I didn't have to rescan Freeview. The channels just reconfigured themselves automaticaLLY on start-up and Sky Arts bobbed up on Channel 11. I can't remember for the life of me what, if anything, was there before.
