Considering everything that is going on, there was lots of encouragement there.

Not a thread for the bellends who have been shite bags on the Match thread.

Couldn't agree more well said BoT. They gave it everything beaten by a better team. No shame in that.

Absolutely. Offside goal and an og. Stuck to it well with over half a team missing. Some decent individual performances from Taylor and Brownhill and a cameo from Vydra.

Agree! Lot of positives tonight despite the shoreline.

Good team performance. Good Premier League debut for Jimmy Dunne and his first goal. Obviously areas to be worked on. As many points from tonight's game as we achieved last season.

4-2 does not do the Burnley display justice. How can anyone be critical with yet another injury, an own goal, hitting the post, makeshift centre backs. A team that never gave in, but succumbed to a club that pays huge sums for players. Burnley were brilliant said Ian Wright and they were, despite the scoreline. Will nail my colours to the mast. Garlick does not deserve to be chairman of this club if he remains determined to support Dyche so poorly. I'll say it again, he does not deserve to be chairman of this club. But, the whole board as a whole has such a parochial mentality that one suspects they would be happier in the Championship. Without support they may well get their wish.

Worked hard and battled and chased to the very end. Unlucky tonight.

True, that.
Pleasantly surprised overall tonight, a win against the Saints and we'll be flying.

To be fair I'd have probably took that result before the game, I feared for us that much.
We could have had 4 ourselves, but also defended quite poorly by our standards.
Fair result, no complaints towards the manager, his selection, the players or the effort etc.

Well said. Dyche has delivered the board untold riches during his tenure and their failure to repay that by providing him with more backing is criminal.

Offside? What are you smoking? Definitely onside as VAR showed

They gave everything, and if Wood takes his two chances we could have snatched an unlikely 4-4 draw.

Dunne, despite people having a go at him, was good overall. He looks a prospect, people need to consider how he would do alongside Mee for example (with no disrespect to Long intended). He is alongside an equally inexperienced player, age being irrelevant.

Garlick needs to get two-three in this coming week however or I fear there is no way back for him with Burnley fans, let alone Dyche.

Thought in an attacking sense we played pretty well.

I hope we don't sign fodder just to keep the fan-base happy.
There's good players in our squad, but playing without our inspirational centre-backs will be difficult.

They shudnt have had 4
Wood should have had 3
Could have won
Could have drawn

Strange game and encouragingly we created enough clear cut chances to get something from the game.

Now time for the board to back the best manager we have had in a generation or hand over to someone who can.

No we certainly dont sign the Wells, Walter's and Crouch types to keep the fans happy that's for sure, if we sign fodder it'll be because the charlatan is taking the cheap option again and hoping the miracle worker over achieves again.

Overall that was a fighting performance and nothing to be ashamed of.

Still need to do better, in particular the midfield needs to protect the defence more effectively. I actually think that they sat too *close* to the defence at times -out of wanting to protect them- but that led to not closing down fast enough and leaving gaps elsewhere.

Not the worst display by a wide margin and considering the circumstances it was oddly a good performance given the result.

Let's get some new players in and freshen things up sharpish.

Did their best with an injury hit squad..Ian Wright summed it up when he said the board should give Dyche the support he deserves after the brilliant work he has done for a Burnley.

Don't smoke. The interview at the end with Barnes intimated the player got a touch to the ball.

The effort and desire shown by the team tonight were excellent, you could see that they gave their all. Unfortunately Leicester have better players in key positions and play a much quicker, offensive game than we do. I still maintain we need to strengthen our midfield with quality and technique so that we can get into games more and control the play. Having said that the performance from the team we had out tonight was admirable.

I feared the worst, but the lads should be proud of that performance. I've said before that the performance is near as important as the result. Against a very good , confident Leicester side we could have easily got something.
It should give us the confidence going forward.

He was shown to be onside on the replay so it doesn't matter if it touched him.

Looked a bit leggy, a bit rusty, bit disjointed. We are a game behind Leicester fitness wise and nowhere near full strength. Strange game. With a bit more luck it could have been a different score. Still some elementary mistakes which can be ironed out. Surprisingly not by the players expected. I.E. Dunne and Long. Thought Dunne was our best player. Which is remarkable as it was his debut.
Disappointed with McNeil who looked like he couldn't be arsed at one point. Considering he'd done the square root of bugger all before then. Hope it was just an off game.

Need to sign a centre midfielder sharpish to go straight in, can’t believe Brady is injured again, still need a right winger after all these years with pace!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I think we should have tried harder to keep Hendrick as we now need to replace him with someone as good to keep things ticking over.

A match we would have been favourites to lose with our best side on show. Thank you to the players and management for not being distracted by the off field “noise”, as SD says, and giving their all for the cause.

Their first goal was NOT offside. One angle on the bbc showed one of ours, in the RB position, playing him on.

Agree with most posters as I also feared the worst but it wasn't
quite as bad as that and their were a few positives - we did create chances
and could have scored 3. Possibly come away with a draw?
Might not have been fully deserved if we had but nevertheless
much better than I feared beforehand.

Overall, well done the team.

Absolutely no complaints with the team performance or manager. My complaints go to the higher ups.
