Server unreliability

Anyone else noticing the cut outs?

Used to seem like a capacity issue during or after matches but now send seems to consistently cut out for a few minutes at a time.

Any plans to improve reliability?

Quite a few times yesterday I couldn't get on, plus in the early hours, when it would have been quiet.
Perhaps it's being turned off on purpose

Couldn't get on the site on Sunday about 6pm, Tarky meltdown was my guess at the time.

Used to notice it regularly after a game, but this last week happening daily, usually multiple times a day.

To add balance, it must be 4 or 5 months since I last experienced it before this last week.

It's probably caught a virus. Boris will sort it. ;)

It's nothing to do with traffic on the site, it happened again late last night. Can't update on it at the moment, no idea what the problem is, but it has been reported.

Russian meddling trying to silence CT.

Perhaps linked to our rumoured new investor? The Russians have form for not tolerating continued dissent.

I noticed this, so I used uptimerobot to let me know when the board was back up.

The downtime / connection timeout seems to be between 2 and 12 minutes, each time, and started Saturday night.

We've had problems in the past because of the server being overloaded, we increased the capacity 8 fold after the Aberdeen Europa League game but it does still hit the limit at times, particularly after games. This is a bit odd though because there's no evidence that we did hit any limits. We've not had a denial of service attack since January and our traffic is no higher than it was for the last few months after the restart. Looking at the logs I can see that we've had over 225,000 failed login attempts on the server since the start of April. All of them from people trying to hack the account.

I'll keep looking and see if I can find out what is going on.

I’ve noticed a coincidence of reports of clubs upping their bid for our players and this board going down or freezing...

I've just rebooted the server. Good old Microsoft approach to IT. If anybody sees any issues going forward then please update the thread with as much information as you can.

I've had a few issues, but nothing major, I assumed it was heavy traffic at first, but I tried accessing the board at quiet times, and it still happened.

Appears to be a 502 gateway error.

Someone would need to look through the error logs and contact whoever hosts the site to fix it. Might be as simple as a DNS problem.

That is what I have had when the site was in heavy use previously, but not with the recent issue, as has been said it can happen with very low numbers people on the site

I just got the 502 error as well, I haven't had that for months unless it's busy, so it seems to be random as others have stated.

Been happening on and off for me the last couple of days, at varying times.

Just happened again and it's took a while to get back on.

It's only this site, I've gone through half a dozen other sites doing stuff, along with Insta and FB with no issues whilst waiting for this one to let me back in.

Keeps saying timed out due to connection issues, maybe site has moved location and even suggests I've got no Internet access.

A few dodgy IPTV streaming channels have been having their servers blocked since Friday followingan injunction. Iknow it shouldn`t affect this site but a coincidence nonetheless?

Hi there. This 500 error basically means that the nginx webserver has hit it's capacity. There are two possibilities here. It could be that we've been busier than we've ever been before or that we've been under some sort of denial of service attack. I've increased the limits on the webserver so you shouldn't see that error again unless we get around 4000 users on the board which we've never seen. I'll keep monitoring it but fingers crossed those errors won't appear again.
