Re: ALK Capital...
Presuming if the takeover talks are still ongoing and not looking like they will be completed anytime soon there is zero chance of us making any signings by Monday?
Re: ALK Capital...
Let's all just take a minute to appreciate the sheer poetic beauty of the 1000th post on this thread being one asking if we're signing anyone!!!

I could well be, it’s my opinion not a factual accuracy. It’s difficult to have a public opinion on a private matter.

I think that there’s been more than enough given and validated to give credit to the information some posters have passed on.CaptainKirk wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 1:57 pmJust a thought but, this thread is a bit like the "imminent" transfers thread.
One or two people who claim to be "in the know" making various statements which never pan out of course. Fast forward a week and they are back making new statements and some people on here take it as gospel - again.
I really find it hard to believe that anyone who was actually in the know would bother putting it on here, whether it be takeover related or transfer related.
All good fun I suppose though.
PS I know for a FACT that the takeover will be completed by Christmas and we will get 4 top signings in the next window and 6 in the one after that.

I think whoever is at the top table will remain at the top table regardless of the stature of the sleeping giants in the abyss.scouseclaret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 1:57 pmIf you think that it makes a blind bit of difference what division we are in when, as you believe, we move to a franchise model, you're kidding yourself.
I always thought when Phil Gartside was pushing for the drawbridge to be pulled up a decade or more ago that it was very bold of him to assume that Bolton would amongst the chosen few. There is absolutely no chance that a club the size of ours will be included in the elite ahead of clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Derby and Forest. Even Sunderland or Portsmouth from League One could probably put together a better business case - for that is what it will depend on, not what division you happen to be in when the music stops.
I personally don't believe we will move to a franchise model any time soon - it is totally alien to British (and even European) sporting culture. I've no doubt that "Project Big Picture" would greatly improve the chances of it happening though, which is why it needs to be opposed.
Much like we band behind Lancashire in cricket when we support various local teams. Or when you look at the Super 15 rugby model and how that breaks down into regional and local teams.
I agree that franchise football is a while off, but it also there on the horizon, and needs to be factored into the planning.
Lancashire is a very large county, and currently we sit atop the pile.

Why do you think this?
The only way we'd get a "franchise" is if we agreed to merge with Blackburn (yeah, right!) and possibly one of two other localish clubs and call ourselves Northern Nomads or something equally stupid and Americanised. Is that really the future you want?

We would simply be the biggest club in Lancashire and overtime we would grow and the supporting base would culturally shift to being Burnley fans....

That is quite an interesting statement.Danieljwaterhouse wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 1:33 pm
The media picking up on the ‘plans’ for the league can only further highlight the need to be at the top table at the moment. We’ve a premier league club, with a premier league vote, that’s for sale when the demand and desire has skyrocketed.
If an alliance between Man Utd & Liverpool, ie ALK, were to buy a vote for £100 million, that is short change in the overall future picture of the money to be earned from a PL being run in the way they envisage.

If you are in the know because your close friend or relative works for the club/is close to the player/the players agent/is a journalist or something similar, then why would you betray their confidence and post their secret on this forum?
Then if it turns out that what you have said on here is absolutely incorrect no one will remember that it was you who said it!
So then you can continue to post more rubbish whenever you want just so that people will think you are "in the know"!
I'm looking forward to these 10 top signings Capt.

The fact that ALK exists and that there have been talks is public knowledge - I started this thread when a friend of mine told me it had appeared on Reuter’s. the following 20 pages has been a mixture of speculation and, frankly, utter ********.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 9:44 pmI believe there have been talks with ALK and I’m not sure whether things have ended or are still progressing. Re: ALK Capital...
Everyone is concerned about this due to the fact that ALK Capital will want to make money from it. The club needs to be successful to be profitable. Why would it not be a better picture financially and potentially competitively?
The only concern I have is the lack of adoration for our club and the loss of any identity we have with supporters owning the club.

Re: ALK Capital...
Where to start?
Your assertion that buying Burnley Football Club is in some way a conduit to investment opportunities in the Northern Powerhouse - itself little mote than a marketing campaign?
Wild speculation about a “devolved North” or “Devolved Lancashire”?
Burnley being part of a franchised Premier League - even, at one point, part of an “elite European structure”?
I’m not sure what would be worse - that your proximity to/involvement with the people behind this bid is pure fantasy, or that you are in some way involved and the people behind it actually believe this stuff!

Re: ALK Capital...
I don’t see how you can’t see that an acquisition of BFC wouldn’t be a front for wider business activity across the North. Even the owners of Man City, with their wealth, use it as a front to enable them to access the Manchester business infrastructure and community’s. If you look closely you can see the lines being drawn financially between Leeds and Manchester.scouseclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:43 amWhere to start?

A devolved North is widely accepted as inevitable in local and national government. The Northern powerhouse is already in situ and is growing. There’s loads online to keep you busy reading about it.
A devolved Lancashire, imo will happen, it’s being discussed at both local and national level. Not full Independence ala Scotland, but certainly a breakaway of some sort.
You can see Burnham already peacocking, as he has been for months. You can’t move on Twitter without a king in the north comment or meme.
We can agree, disagree, or agree to disagree.
I’ve never said it was my deal, I given what I knew and was told. There’s a hundred moving parts in these deals, brokers, legal, advisors, vendors, acquisition teams and so on. Everyone knows a part of the picture.
I spoke last year, as did others about the club being prepared for sale. Yes, we openly sought investment 36 odd months ago, but it was clear that financially we shut up shop, to prep for a takeover at the end of last year.

There’s getting facts wrong and there’s posting from a self-appointed position of ‘in the know’ and making claims that are basically lies. For example; ‘Dwight’s gone’.
DJW may well have a ‘source’, but so far that source hasn’t proven very trustworthy as I don’t think a single one of his claims have come to pass. I think it’s perfectly fair for people to then question these ‘in the know’ claims.

If you hear some gossip from someone it’s best not to pass it off as fact, otherwise you need to accept that when it’s proven incorrect it will be called out as BS.
Tarkowski to Leicester being another, it was all done and dusted but waiting for a makeweight player to come in the opposite direction wasn’t it?

The problem with inside information is that things often change. If people waited and leaked it later it would be more accurate but less fun on here. A lot of interesting contributions and interpretations on the takeover from 1 or 2 posters, hopefully they continue.

If we are to be taken over the sooner the better, if not I wish the interested party would walk away, then our board can seek other means of investment.
