To be fair, there's three stands at the Turf worse than the Bob Lord.
There might be in your opinion.
But them three are probably operating at a maximum financially.
Building a new stand is only financially viable if you put plenty of corporate places in. The added bonus would be premium seats added.
It's no surprise the last 1000 Seats aren't sold on the turf regular. They have terrible views.

You might laugh, but there's plenty of land next to the training ground in Padiham where a new ground could be built.
A hardly used farmers field right next to it and the old main gas factory next to that, that has been demolished for 350 houses.
But that has been held up for a couple of years.
Who’s laughing

Not keen on redeveloping the Bob Lord “too much”. That suggests some change, which perhaps might include corporate, but not a complete rebuild.
Perhaps a little ahead of ourselves here mind

I think we should be aiming to get into a position where we can afford to buy players before we get giddy about stadium redevelopment.

I think we should actually accomplish takeover before we get giddy about players and furthermore stadium development.
Let's hope we get the best fit if we are indeed taken over.
It partly sits uncomfortable with me tbh.

You must be enjoying the silence then depechedingle.
Trying to look at the two bids dispassionately and given the information in the public domain you would have to say the American bid fits best with the published ethos of the club with the ever expanding community department, they are the ones talking of investing in the area, northern powerhouse etc, this, if true would have benefits for the area as a whole.
This of course is conjecture and we all wait with baited breath to see which bid is accepted and what's behind it, there appears to be some confidence surrounding both parties being able to invest in the playing side and that first and foremost is what a lot of supporters want initially.

Like anyone Bodge, I just want what is best for our club.
Some think we will be flush with money if this happens but no one for certain knows, there's something about Burnley having money that would certainly be strange.
I believe from what I've read that I'd prefer ALK Capital.
I am wary for every good/successful takeover there seems to be have been as many if not more tinpot millionaires who have ruined clubs and destroyed several.
Wishing for investment is one thing, getting the right one to make the investment and commit long term is of paramount importance.

Still not seen anything to make me want either, I am where I was some weeks back - apprehensive - still far too little is known to plump for either side from a fan perspective.
Having someone with the reputation of Farnell is not helping the Egyptian bid from my view, but he is experienced in these things - though from what I have seen he is 2 for 4 on the bids he has been involved in previously - won at Leeds and Swansea, failed at Birmingham City and Charlton. there are suspicions that he may be involved with the Wigan takeover, but I would still like to know why he had such a short tenure as a Director at that club under the Whelan reign.

Land already purchased, the old Padiham power station site ,,ssshhh, don’t tell anyone else
Do Whatmore, Graham and Brown, Fagan and Whalley and the other companies that are on there know? They might need to start looking to relocate
I think you mean Huncoat power station..which incidentally is in Hyndburn i think.

Short term players yes..we certainly need investment there. However longer term it is vitally important to generate as much money as we can and a ground high in corporate space and spaces that can be utilised on non match days is vital to that. We certainly took a step forward in that sense when we redeveloped the two stands but it is at its maximum now and we need to raise the bar. Not to mention we have one stand that is in serious need of redevelopment anyway.

I think it's reference to around 30yrs ago when rumours were going around we might move the ground to another site and the old power station site was mentioned.

On his failing at Charlton of the ‘fit and proper persons test’ - He claims it’s down to a box he didn’t tick on the form.
Failing to correctly complete a form would mean your application was rejected, but you can apply again.
In my opinion You don’t get a suspension just for filling out an application incorrectly.
I’m surprised to see people still claiming they don’t know enough about this bid to have an opinion. You’ve been warned chaps, I believe another of your posters has already said he understands no investment is going to be made into the team. Time will tell.
We at Charlton genuinely wish you the best. I’m sure we will link up to protest when the time comes (because it will). I for one will be there, they will never be forgiven for what they did to us.
A solicitor failing to tick a box - that's a nonsense in itself

I know but i am sure it was to do with Huncoat and not Padiham? I remember Huncoat being lined up for the fanciful Xeri project before that too. Huncoat is still empty land too as far as I am aware. I genuinely can't think of many more adequate locations in the area with good road connections that we could move to if it came to it. It is like I say in Hyndburn though.

The day that Burnley FC moves out of the borough of Burnley is the day I stop going on, next borough or otherwise. (Even though we have no idea when we can actually go back on again)
For what it’s worth, there’s loads of land where a new stadium could potentially be built within the town itself. Just look at the number of new business parks that have sprung up.

As someone spends quite a bit of time in Huncoat I can tell you that the road links would be massively overwhelmed completely with 20k turning up there. The old power station site is a like a nuclear apocalypse has taken place. Moving from the Turf is a terrible idea.

Got a link/picture of the story Grumps?
Sounds to me like Farnell is feeding the Mirror a load of BS.
But to answer your question, if we were bought by anyone worth £9bn, yes, I’d be up for the takeover!!

It doesn’t really make a difference nor matter what somebody’s worth, it only really makes a difference or matters if they are willing to spend besides the initial investment.

Personally, I think it will be a sad day, when Burnley FC is no longer a home town team.
The transfers will become worldwide and that very strong British influence will diminish.
Just another WHU or Crystal Palace....Good on paper.
No longer a band of brothers.

True, but surely in that event his family would be well known (i.e. on the list above)? And he wouldn’t need to work/would be working in a family business?
Given he lists himself on Linked in as a “Private Equity Director”, I don’t believe he’s got any personal wealth whatsoever (in these quantum’s), but must represent folk who do.
That’s what I can’t quite understand. Football is such a bad/risky investment, I can’t see why people would want to invest unless it’s as a trophy asset as per Chelsea/City owners. I can understand why owning a football club would be exciting for those folk, chasing a “kick”. So if he’s heading it up, I can only imagine it’s a consortium of much less wealthy people or they themselves are dodgy as and wouldn’t pass the directors test?

It has been pretty obvious so far whenever Farnell has been behind a press story - too much has a lack of credibility in every piece - he would make a great mouthpiece for that sulker over the pond

9 billion or 9 million. It would make little difference seeing as we currently refuse to spend anything anyway. Anything is better than nothing.
The sooner this takeover happens, the better.
