I believe Blackburn would love to be a city but does not make the grade.
Preston or London must be the worst.

45, and I like to think I’m really good with geography. Tough quiz, that.
Missed obvious one’s like Coventry, Lincoln, Londonderry...

The most obvious one I missed was York. Got all of Northern Ireland and Scotland but missed one in Wales. Managed 53.

60. I took a screen shot but don’t want to put it up whilst folk are still playing.
Annoyed at 3 that I missed. Another 5 minutes I might have had them all bar the one I missed in NI.

Good quiz, enjoyed that. Ran out of time on 63. Having to keep closing the phone keyboard screen down to view the map wasted a lot of time, might have managed it otherwise although 2 in the south, beginning with Ch...., were foxing me as the timer went to 0...

Far enough down the page to add my screenshot now. I was disappointed to miss Oxford, Salford and Sheffield.

I wish I could use that for an excuse Doug, I really do, it's just my fingers and brain are not wired properly, even some of the easy spellings I had to do twice lol, I would never have got all of them but it was fun, if somewhat frustrating a couple of times, stupid thing should have had spell check,, would have been much easier for me lol.

sorry this has to be null and void since the map is up with 60 cities, therefore you got zero or we could give you the 9 missing ones but.............
Plus you said ages, how can it be ages we all got the same few minutes

60 - somehow missed Stoke (where I used to live) and Lincoln - Westminster was a bit of a curve ball - other than that hadn't heard of some of the places never mind knowing they were cities
Good quiz - thank you for sharing

Did it on the phone. The box where you type in the letters covers up everything except Scotland.......

Yes, got the "second" city alongside Manchester straight away as my ex wife was from there and I had it drummed into me form very early on that it was NOT Manchester!! But the "other" city in London was definitely a curve ball as previously stated.

I don't believe so and I THINK that was always a myth. You do need a royal charter proclaiming you're a city though.

That's a nice "exercise the brain in the morning" quiz. I managed 59, I got c 40 without much thought then it got increasingly difficult and I ran out of time to remember more. The ones I was most embarrassed at missing were Oxford and Cambridge.
I dont believe you must have a cathedral to be a city. You can certainly have a cathedral and not be a city- eg Guildford.

Blackburn has a cathedral and isn't a city, Preston doesn't have a cathedral but is a city. Hope that sorts that one out!
I was once told that a city has to have a wall. That was inaccurate too.

Got 60, but the "t" on my computer is playing up at present, so it slowed me down with spellings.
I think I would have got 66 or 67, but I would have missed Westminster, Carlisle and Newport, and bizarrely I think I might have missed Lancaster!

I was brought up believing you had to have a Cathedral or University to be a city. A myth or the Uni of the Turf would make Burnley one.
