Team for tonight...

I'm hoping to see Mr Lowton back tonight, with potentially Mr Mee on the bench?
Who will partner Wood up front?
I think we will start to see JBG come back into form over the next few games, if he can avoid injury!
Pope
Lowts Tarks Long Taylor
JBG Brownhill Westwood DM
Wood Jay

Pope
Peters Long Mee Taylor
Brownhil Stevens Westwood McNiel
Rodriguez Vydra
Swap tarks for Mee if Mee isn't fit. Doesn't want to be here can see another Gibson situation in January

Did you see his performance in the last game?

I hope this isn't one of those games where our manager just blindly plays a 4-4-2 (because that's what we do) and it ends up being a routine defeat due to that. I've witnessed so many games against the likes of Man City,Chelsea etc where we 'try and affect the game' by playing 2 up front who end up being ineffective and leaving us short and over-run in the middle of the pitch.
I'm a huge fan of our manager but it leaves me very frustrated when we play the better teams that we seemingly sleep walk into another routine defeat.

Id be amazed if 5 of that 11 start, certainly 4.
I didn't think Tarky played badly against WBA?

I understand where you are coming from with some of your points, We have little choice though with what we have. I personally would prefer Jay or Vydra alongside Wood as they make us play a little rather than 'the long ball forward and hope to win the second balls'.

I think this is exactly what we will do. How many times do we surprise the opposition ?

Would love to see Dyche try something other than 4-4-2 against these teams. Would not even object to 5-4-1, with three at the back. Park the bus and try & keep the score respectable. With a bit of luck, might be in it with 15 minutes to go, then change it around.

A 4-4-1-1 with Jay-Wood would be my thinking. Allow Jay to drop back.

There are other options to a flat 4-4-2.... bring Stephens in to sit in front of the back 4 with Westy and Brownhill in front of him, bring Dwight infield as a no 10 or standard CM and put Brady or Jay Rod on the left (Jay Rod played his best football for Saints as an attacker from the left), play a diamond midfield rather than a flat 4 - let them have the wide areas. I'm just saying it would be a positive step if we tried something a bit different against the better teams. Of course, I hope I'm completely wrong and we win the game playing the 4-4-2 that we undoubtedly will.

I think we might see Rodriguez in for Barnes tonight.
With Lowton looking like the obvious change at full back as well.

Only just started training. Sean Dyche has already said they will need to arrange a pre-season for him and then some u23 games. I can't see how he can be anywhere near the bench tonight.

A bit of a dilemma if we've no recognised RB or Pieters to cover. Could move Long to RB and bring Dunne in I suppose.

The prospect of Long at right back up against Son's movement is terrifying. Has to be a better option than that.

Not sure there's many other options - Tarky has played well for us at RB before, but that makes our central defence like a sieve, if Mee isn't available.

Believe Lowton is fit but that's giving me nightmares after the away game against them last season. I think that's probably the worst game I've seen him have for us.

But if SD said he needs a pre-season + U23 games, like you said further up, does it mean they may have to risk him?

Dyche won't play him until he's fit. He's not even there yet in terms of fitness, according to Dyche who said he would be given a pre-season first which would presumably include a couple of u23 games. We won't be risking him after recovering from a major tear.

I suspect he'll play Barnes as he manages to win us free kicks up the pitch, let's face it, we wont see much of the ball so we will play for set pieces

When can we expect Bardsley back? Any word on that? I always just assume when a footballer has tested positive they'll just make a swift recovery, but it may not always be like that.

I think Dyche will keep exactly the same starting 11 as last time. He will have liked how we defended which means Pieters starting
Only possible change is Lowton instead of Pieters, but Lowton had an absolute shocker at Spurs when we were trounced 5-0

Spurs on a nine match unbeaten run, highest scorers in the league and have the return of Gareth Bale, one of the best players in the world.
Don’t think we’ll have a problem

Might regret this after twenty minutes as they are a good side on their day but the last two games against them at the Turf have been 2-1 and 1-1.
Confident we can make it three good results on the bounce against them.
