Bookings for "simulation"
Bookings for "simulation"
Has this been given up on now? Watching the highlights of the Spurs match yesterday there were a couple of penalty claims that were clearly dives but nothing was done about it and I can't remember when I last saw a booking for diving.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
aggi --how dare you suggest that players dive to try and get penalties? They feel contact and are entitled to go down ----well that is what the commentators and pundits always said before I started watching without the sound turned on.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
All it takes is for a few referees to start booking players and sending them off and the rest will follow suit. It just needs enough referees with big enough balls.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
Just caught up on Saturdays EFL highlights and there was a sending off for diving, second yellow iffy call. Sorry can't remember the game.
Re: Bookings for "simulation"
No bookings now but there is a team of judges using VAR who score them on degree of difficulty in the dive and a separate score for artistic interpretation.

The officials must stick to what they are instructed to do from above. I don't know what is on the agenda these days because things seem to change every week. You have to remember that the officials are employed by PGMOL and must do as they are told or risk the sack for not sticking to the instructions.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 12:35 pmAll it takes is for a few referees to start booking players and sending them off and the rest will follow suit. Re: Bookings for "simulation"
Not exactly " simulation" but the Kane penalty award was dubious to say the least, according to the pundits he won a penalty, no he didn't he deliberately made sure Lallana made contact with him, lallana only had eyes for the ball well Kane made a back, and left Lallana with nowhere to go, if anything it should have been a Brighton free-kick, mind you it was equalled out by the joke of a decision not to disallow the equaliser, that's as clear a foul as you'll see, and even with the benefit of VAR, and Graham Scott viewing it on the monitor they still couldn't come to the right decision between them.
And the Liverpool and Newcastle pens were dodgy to boot, it appears that if there's any contact in the box a pen will be awarded, is it any wonder players go to ground so easily, it still doesn't make it right, but that's what will continue to happen when the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
This is the problem with bookings for simulation. The powers that be appear to have decided that even the slightest contact is a foul, but only if the player dives and screams; and the heaviest contact will not be a foul if the player does not dive and scream. So if the referee sees someone dibing and screaming, he is expected to give a foul if either player has touched the other but book the man for diving if the "touch" missed. It must be very hard to make a certain judgement that there was no contact at all.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 2:48 pmAnd the Liverpool and Newcastle pens were dodgy to boot, it appears that if there's any contact in the box a pen will be awarded, is it any wonder players go to ground so easily, it still doesn't make it right, but that's what will continue to happen when the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker.

Blatant dive by Leeds' Ayling to try to win a penalty. Ref must have seen it as he waved away the appeal, no booking. Full on deception.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
Absolutely Simon. Blatant cheating that.
All the PL needs to do is announce there will be severe retrospective action if, in the view of a three man panel (where 2-1 results in a decision) a player has attempted to gain an advantage by cheating. And bloody well call it cheating as well, none of this “let’s not upset anyone so we’ll call it simulation” ********.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
It’s almost like the refs don’t care about simulation now because they know that VAR should determine the correct decision.
They’re still trying to deceive and wasting everyone’s time in the process. How Ayling wasn’t booked I’ll never know. He looked hugely embarrassed.

The game is going to the dogs. I had one foot out the door before Dyche arrived and made Burnley players start working hard again. Sadly the increasing trend for multi millionaires playing at deception and VAR being as useful as a chocolate teapot has taken me to the edge once more.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
As any economist will tell you it's all about incentives.
The incentive to simulate: Winning a penalty & potentially the game
Is far greater than both the chance of being caught, and even if caught the relatively minor punishment.

Re: Bookings for "simulation"
One of the easiest ways to utilise VAR. Can spot the dives so easily in slowmo. What a farce!
Re: Bookings for "simulation"
The Ayling dive should be reported by every newspaper/media so that he gets punished
It was so bad he didn't even appeal himself
