What do you miss?

I certainly miss the live game. However I’m beginning to miss the walk to the turf and pre match pint. Also the pre match pie. Even the pre match music, the bloke behind accidentally cuffing back of my head when gesticulating to no one in particular. The bloke next two seats down with the weak bladder. The guy whose had a few too many swearing when throw in didn’t go our way. Even when it did! The man who doesn’t have a watch and always turns up 5 mins late for kick off and after halftime.
The half-time music. The long queue for the bogs, the bene and hot. Hell even miss buying a twix!

As an away supporter rather than a home supporter thanks to geography, I miss trips to places like gillingham , Hereford, even Rochdale a lot more than I miss trips to arsenal Sunderland Watford. Weve played the top teams recently and those places are on the telly anyway.
Obviously I don't want us to go down but I'm just not missing the Premier league.

The journey with my teenage sons.
We always saw something random along the way, we had some good laughs etc.
Don't get me wrong, Burnley and back in the same day from Oxford is a long old trek but each time it was enjoyable.

Driving up on a Saturday morning, having lunch at my daughter's house, going to the match with as many family members as can get there, getting a win, going out for something to eat with daughter and grandchildren, driving back home feeling happy.

The main bit I miss
That and meeting the lads and family for food and beers before the match and out for a few after, a win was the cherry on top really and eased sundays hangover

That sums it up. It's the whole day.
I also miss the game a couple of years ago before VAR when a goal was a goal instead of a 'maybe' followed by a 'pause' followed by a 'decision by a committee'. I even miss the Championship with matches played against the local rivals. I miss the occasions when we manage to frustrate one of the big teams and their fans. I miss all the grumbling from the chaps behind me when we are not playing so well.
I don't miss the parachutist on the roof and the double glazing bloke who tried to cheer lead the crowd with the 'Walk 500 miles' song. I don't miss walking away from the ground when we have lost and played badly.

Don't actually miss going to the matches. I do however really miss running up and down the line waving a flag at the appropriate time no matter what the spectators behind me think about that decision.

Agree Underseige. I mentioned live games but even when allowed on as a fan it doesn’t feel like a live game? It’s like a a judge is deciding what result/decision should be. Recent handball decision don’t help either. I don’t miss the waiting that kills the passion and joy of the game in my view.

Yeah, the day out is the most important bit for us too. The games can of course be great, but already last season VAR was killing it a bit. I’m in a small minority here, but I’d rather watch us in the championship with ‘normal’ rules than what we have now.
But back to going on the Turf, can’t wait for the first night match back, even if it’s a nightmare for travel.

The early morning train journey
The day on the lash
The match
The clowns who decide to leave once we go 2-0 down
The evening on the lash
The hazy train journey home
I even miss the bollocking off the mrs if she has picked me up from the station
The hangover on the Sunday
Pretty much everything about matchday really

Being on the Turf at this time of year...a nip in the air and the floodlights on in the second half. Spells of pressure attacking the Beehive/JM end with the crowd roaring. Sitting with my brother and the elation when the ball finally hits the net. This covid s*** is rubbish !

Miss the standing there before the game watching the big screen talking to those around me then hearing times like these come over the PA system. Miss the walking out of the ground after a good or bad result hearing peoples thoughts on what they had just seen. Sadly I'm going to miss going to the game with my dad, who is now sadly ill and its very very unlikely that I will see a game with him again. The moment I go back on alone will be a very emotional day.

Just watching from TV all the time is crap, especially home games. I cannot stand the piped in cosmetic atmosphere and so watch without which is not much better. I am beginning to look forward to days when we don't play, maybe the form of the team but much of it is TV football. I (foolishly) always feel I can influence the game when I attend. But like many I am mostly missing the whole buzz about attending football matches.

I miss Guess The Gate although I didn't often get my predictions correct I liked that game it got you thinking.
I was actually hoping to attend my 1st game at the turf for decades this year, but clearly it wasn't meant to be, so touch wood that I will be able to travel down sometime in 2021.
This season doesn't seem real even to an armchair fan. I've watched a few matches on TV and it's definitely lacking in intensity, this just proves that without the fans many games are no more than glorified friendlies, you need the atmosphere to create an edge no matter who's playing.

The 'ups and downs' are all part of it. Fans of the top teams, who are used to winning all the time, are gutted if they don't finish in the top three. If we finished fourth it would be like winning the league.

I’m missing
Us passing forward
Dwight running at the opposition
Us playing a striker with pace for more than 10mins
Jay Rod’s control movement link up play and communication with his fellow striker and midfielders
Oh and I’m going to miss the Premier League
And so are those who say they’re happy in the championship when we’ve 2 points from 7 games in there and Blackburn & PNE are above us

I think that I'm in that minority too. Especially since we would be playing local matches against sides such as Preston, Blackburn and Huddersfield. It would be even better if some more localish sides could get into the Championship as well. Blackpool, Rochdale, Wigan or Fleetwood. But it doesn't look all that likely at the moment.

Wow I’d read that mood from post above yours
The idea that we’ll go down this way, Dyche will leave and we’ll be a force in the championship.
We might be playing the Blackburn’s and PNE’s but if we’re losing and facing relegation fights for 10 years, IMO, you’ll be pining for what we are letting slip now.

I guess I just don't like the Premiership at the moment. I don't like the unfairness of it all. To know at the start of the season that we have virtually no chance of winning and that the title will be won from one of a small handful of teams. There are several matches during the season that we know we also don't stand much chance of winning. It's great when we do though. I also don't like VAR and all the money grabbing TV stuff.
My ideal league would be one that, at the start of the season, no one would have any idea which teams would be at the top come May. The team squads would be about even in number of players and talent. I don't think that we will ever get that though.
We might not get to test the Championship next season yet. We had a rotten first half of the season last year. We looked relegation certainties after the drubbing by Villa at home. We ended up in a comfortable mid table position. The manager we have is a 'winner'. He just needs a run of luck with the injury situation and to get some of the 'long term injury returners up to speed and then we will again be a force to be reckoned with again.

I get it but, but look at Leicester bottom at Xmas 1 year
Win the title the next
Southampton top at the moment, won’t last but they’re having fun
Remember when little Burnley finished 7th & got into the Europa League
Who knows, with a little luck & investment, if it ever comes, where we’ll get to.
The analogy about it not being the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog, whilst not being completely true, has been our thing.

As others have said missing the whole match day experience and today of all days the showing of respect for the fallen.
Always find the home game nearest Rememberance Sunday very moving when you have 20k people standing together in silence as the Last Post rings out around the stadium.

Definitely miss the away games most, jumping on the train early doors with a couple of tinnies and always bumping into a few clarets on the way and just having a great day out. Home games not so much as i drive there and back as theres no train to get me back to gloucester the same day so sometimes it seems a bit of a slog

Agree..... I’m seriously hoping this is a temporary situation . Stopping wider discussion threads during a lockdown is hardly supportive. If an idiot or two is spoiling things then just ban them .... this board is a very narrow and much duller place now.

It is a 'football forum' and I won't be making any non BFC related posts again. On reflection it's not fair on the people who run the site who simply want a 'Burnley fans forum'.
For those who wish to engage in any other type of discussion I'm sure there are plenty of sites on which they can do this.
