To put more flesh on the bones this brief update from the Beeb, might not be great news for fans getting back on the turf though if Lancashire is considered a high-risk area sadly.

A maximum of 4,000 fans are to be allowed at outdoor events in the lowest-risk areas when the national lockdown in England ends on 2 December, BBC Sport understands.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to make an announcement this afternoon on the return of crowds.

There will be no crowds allowed at sport in the highest-risk areas under the new Covid-19 restrictions for England from 2 December.

There's no reason why this thread should get deleted if posters stick to the topic, I know that's a tough ask on this forum however, so you may well be proven correct.

Tier 1 only or should only be given the tiers are supposed to be more strict than October.

I’ve no idea where we stand at the moment with Covid. But given it was so bad another lockdown was introduced, to allow fans back a month later is stupid.

We've all (?) got to like the start of fans returning to live events, even if it will be limited in numbers and not be available where covid-19 (can I post that term?) is resulting in high(er) infection rates.

A vaccine is coming - whether from Pfizer, Moderna or Oxford/AstraZenneca.

Let's keep the "good news" coming.

Is PL considered an outdoor sport? Whilst the game is obviously played outdoors, are the fans outdoors?

I can only state that in Scotland only the 2 Highland teams ICT & Ross County have been allowed to admit fans, and that's only in limited numbers 300 apiece, and naturally no away fans permitted.

Given that we're likely to be in tier 3 for the foreseeable future I don't think it really makes any difference to us.

Not sure how that would work in allowing some teams to have fans and others not to.
Accept its debatable how much advantage having a small number of fans in a 50,000 capacity stadium would give the home team.

If there is some truth in this you would think that the clubs had been consulted for their views as to whether they would be happy with being in a tier which does not allow fans whilst other teams they are playing against could be allowed some supporters in the ground.

Surely if this is the case that will give an advantage to the teams that are allowed to have fans back in

While I am desparate to get back on to the turf I think it would be extremely unfair if some teams are allowed fans and others aren't

Lets keep our fingers crossed that Burnley rates drop quickly.

I wonder what happens for someone who lives in a higher tier but supports a team in a lower tier!!!

Desperate to get back. And don’t mind if say Brighton can have fans and we can’t. If it means the bigger picture is it means we can all get back sooner.

That said as much as i am / was against the strict lockdowns. I also think given the mess we are in it’s better just leaving it for now. Especially given the worse weather is yet to come.

But if it’s safe and sensible I don’t mind whether one team or all teams get some fans back.

Hopefully next season everyone’s back.

This basically means 4000 fans allowed back in the south, 2000 in the Midlands and 0 in the north. Doesn’t help us at all.

Lancashire CC area, which includes all the non unitary areas of the county are below the Tier 3 threshold, as are Preston and Blackpool.

I disagree. I know it gives us a disadvantage. Or perhaps not in some instances. But if sooner some are back to the how safe and easy it is to get more back.

If it means we miss out until we are out of lockdown so be it.

I know it is an unprecedented situation but I do think this is going to be very unfair on some clubs. But don't worry - aren't Liverpool in tier 3? We'll soon have Klopp bleating on our behalf.

It's grossly unfair to allow some fans back in stadiums and others not allowed ,it should be one rule for all teams.

Might explain why Liverpool agreed to mass testing !!
Cases have reduced by two thirds.

The tiers we are all in will be announced Thursday apparently. Seems very unfair.

Do you think the clubs were consulted in this CT ?

Here’s hoping that we are Tier 2 on Sunday Lucy Powell said we might be put in that tier due to us being in highest restrictions for so long and R rate below 1 and numbers falling etc

If 2000 fans are allowed - I will say it now, those at Hereford (0-6 game) should be given priority

Only problem being that there are around 50,000 burnley fans who claim to have gone on that game !

Is it really that much of an advantage to have 2 thousand fans spread out in a 60 thousand capacity stadium? I couldn't care less personally, it's a step in the right direction for all of us.

It's a step in the wrong direction. Covid figures and deaths are going through the roof still. Its a decision that shouldn't have even been considered until after the new year ..

Trying not to get political :D but Liverpool and the North West in general have far lower infection rates than down south, in fact its the only region with an R number under 1, though I don't think that will matter one jot on Thursday, and you're right Klopp will be kicking off, he can do a double act with Burnham ......... Right on to important things, let's get that telly on.

So... if I live in a tier 1 area, but for argument sake Burnley is not tier 1 - can I at least attend...? I'll shout really bloody loud from the Cricketfield end... I dont have to see anyone on the way to the ground... straight in and out again after, I'm sure there'll be parking spaces...

Well I am confused tonight a lot. Took the screen shot from Sky news tier rules explained. Says elites sports will be banned.

Mail online is saying majority of North West will be in tier 3.

So unless Sky got it wrong or football not an elite sport, then It’s kinda self explanatory.

To be fair the football dished up without fans is anything but elite, it’s been dire.
