I frequently revisit Fairports "What we did in our holidays" recorded way back in 1968.

I rarely find albums that I can play all the way through (two well known ones that I can play right through are Dire Straits first album and Kate Bush, The Kick Inside) so from my CD collection I made compilation CDs (my best of one artist, prog rock or pedal steel songs for example). These are usually played on a speaker system. Some years ago I ripped these CDs to computer and use that for the basis of a headphone system. The beauty of that is you can play random songs from the whole collection of CDs and I occasionally come across songs that I'd forgotten or never really liked. Here's a couple:

Watched Steve Harley live with his band and many times with the acoustic trio a truly underated musician who continues to still do live shows to this day,me and the wife even had two tracks from his solo album "The Quality of Mercy played at our wedding

Mrs EC very kindly got me a turntable and amp for my birthday last month so after many years in mothballs Led Zeppelin IV, Dark Side of the Moon, the Doors debut album, the Madcap Laughs and Joe Strummer's Earthquake Weather have all made a welcome return to vinyl action

Picturedrome Holmfirth and many more ..but without doubt the best gig i saw him perform Sebastian was with a full orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall...magnificent

That album released in 1977 had them voted BEST LIVE ACT IN THE WORLD in 78.

Ok Van Morrison is not a band, I’ll grant you.
But you’ve got to admit Van is THE man.

Recently listened to the entire double album "The River" from The Boss. Whilst I've never stopped listening to certain tunes from it, I haven't had the whole album on in ages. It's still brilliant.

Otis Redding’Live in Europe’ was one I listened into recently. He was soo good!

Bruce Springsteen. The river. Amazing album, and strangely, 30 years ago I didn’t actually “get” him.

I’ve been up once but I thought we were just doing vinyl.
The absolute greatest album of all time. Not a bad note on the playlist and so many Bruce classics.

That three album run from Springsteen in the late 70s is just fantastic.....Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River, three absolute classics. If I really had to pick one of them it would probably be Born to Run...and if I had to pick one track (which is actually impossible) I'd possibly go for Backstreets, an amazing song with one of the most committed vocal performances ever.

In 1982, at 18, I drove four of us the 772 miles from East Lancashire to St-Jean-de-Monts, on the French Vendee Coast. In our Green 1978 Chrysler Avenger 1.6LS ( WBN574T ), we had a radio cassette, and three tapes ...

Absolutely agree, in picking one from each, " Jungleland " from " Born to Run " ( I think our fellow poster, " MagicRat " will know this ! ), " Badlands " from " Edge of Town, and " Sherry Darlin' " from " The River ", although " Little girl I wanna marry you " runs it close for very personal reasons ...

And all this has prompted me to dig out my Born in the USA album and revisit it from start to finish. Absolutely fantastic album and such nostalgic memories!! Especially of seeing the man himself performing many of those songs at Roundhey Park on his tour.

I remember spending some months in Canada years ago, and a few of us shared at a car. It had a bench front seat and an 8 track player. There was a cassette stuck inside the machine that wouldn’t come out.... it played over and over and over again.

Darkness on the edge of town, and it’s this album that finally won me over to the Bruce side...

From this, Badlands and Darkness.
