Upgrades on right back and right wing are both needed to make us stronger. That’s half of the puzzle solved if Kenny is a success , providing he signs of course
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’d like to see a better attacking right back to be honest. To have someone similar to Charlie would be fantastic.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 8:59 pmTrue but they will both do a job for another season. Think we need to prioritise a number of different areas.

4 full days left including the weekend. Hope we are beyond the ‘making enquiries’ stage.

He really is. Taylor gets up the pitch but rarely produces. Dyche even alluded to it when he got an assist the other game.
Lowton 115 Apps in the prem - 0 goal - 6 assists
Taylor 89 apps in prem - 0 goals - 3 assists
Both decent players think when are both fit they don’t desperately need improving.
Where as I think a RM, CM, Striker and possibly CB are a bigger priority in my opinion

To be fair, Lowton is ahead of Taylor in providing assists so you could argue he is more attacking than Taylor. Especially as he’s not been blessed with great help on the right wingNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:07 pmTo be fair to Lowton he is just as attacking as Taylor.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think something you have to factor in when thinking about Kenny is that the lad isn't really playing and he must be desperate to get some footy. So surely he himself (and his agent) will be putting pressure on Everton to come up with a sensible/acceptable price (or loan arrangement) and get him out of there. Collins is different because he IS playing and so he may well be more prepared to leave it up to the club at this stage

Not massively bothered if we sign anyone this window or not.
We seem to be after players with an eye to future seasons rather than this, so it can probably wait until the summer. Dyche seems fairly relaxed.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Centre half well above Centre mid in my view given Tarkowski very likely to leave in the summer and we have better cover in CM than CB right now. Tarkowski and/or Mee get injured...well remember early on this season.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:18 pmI’m still adamant RM or CM has to be the priority this window

Totally agree, I just look at how poorly we have performed in league without Cork this season and just think it’s an urgent position.

I rate Cork highly but I'd rather be without him than Tarkowski or Mee because we have better CM cover. I don't agree we've been poor in the league.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:26 pmTotally agree, I just look at how poorly we have performed in league without Cork this season and just think it’s an urgent position.

If Tarks is going to be allowed to leave in summer then getting his replacement in now would really have been a huge benefit to get him working within our structure.
As we tend to make any signings towards the very end of the window it’s quite likely that we’ll be starting next season with Mee and Long.

So would I. Having never negotiated a Premier League transfer, I assumed these discussions could/should be taking place before the window opened and then finalised.
Was quite surprised when Dyche said that we have to remain “flexible to opportunities that arise” at the presser the other day - all sounds much more reactive than I thought.
Hope our recent results makes us more attractive to the quality players looking for a loan move.

Decent move for him given their league position.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Thank god we play City after the window shuts
Usually the "quality" players are not looking for loan moves
But agree it would have been nice to get a decent wide right player in this month

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Dyche has explained this many times in interviews. We have our list of targets and people we feel can improve us, quite often teams won't let them go without replacements, unless its for a silly fee (Which we will never pay). That means were left waiting until the so called 'domino' reaction happens. When one player moves and it sets off 3 or 4 deals. Thats the way it is for us and the way it will always be. The only other way we can get a target is if they are genuinely surplus to requirements at another club and completely unwanted.NewClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:55 pmSo would I. no it's not, we will surely just try to continue improving our scouting system around the world - sure, it's a long term project but will pay dividends I'm sureUpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:10 amDyche has explained this many times in interviews. Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I don't know, but I would imagine our worldwide scouting started from a very weak position. It's clear the investment was made at Barnfield and I would expect the scouting to improve, but I agree in terms of how long is that piece of string. Pretty obvious the transfer fee's are unsustainable for most clubs never mind us so we have to find another way and that has to be through the scouting network.

Good points. In some respects, if we’re not buying because the players we think will fit in and genuinely improve us are not available, you have to see that as a sign of progress that the level of the overall squad has improved.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:10 amDyche has explained this many times in interviews. And to your last point, presumably even unwanted players are not positioned as such by their clubs, in order to get the best deal!

A suggestion this morning that Liverpool might need to sign a new centre back this week; hopefully they're not looking in our direction.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
All in the timing...most of the talk of "" money available"" and "need to strengthen" from over the New Year period has vanished as the threat of relegation has eased.
I'd be pleased but surprised to see us strengthen the starting 11.
Of more interest would be the club's reaction to a bid for Tarkowski, McNeil or Pope...or Dyches reaction to a vacancy arising at an underperforming club with a genuinely wealthy owner, as opposed to one with a large debt to service.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I wouldn't mind us enquiring about Maitland-Niles, would be perfect on the right for us as he's played RB as well but is naturally a winger. He's wanting to go on loan and supposedlt several clubs have enquired. They're also looking to loan Reiss Nelson who is another RM that could potentially do a job.

Our history on loan signings from London clubs is not great We have brought media bigged up players like Chalobah,Bamford.Drinkwater all bombed
Loftus Cheek hasn't exactly pulled up any trees at Fulham and Naitlan-Miles exhibits cba when playing at Arsenal
Personally re loans I would enquire about Shakiri or Minamina at Liverpool

Brexit has affected the market. It is stricter criteria before you can come into the UK now. This won’t affect the top clubs as they sign senior internationals. The market we deal in this will affect us.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I agree that our history of utilising loans, particularly from London clubs, is pretty shocking. I do think Maitland-Niles would be a really good fit though, especially in Dyche's system. He's hardly done sweet FA at Arsenal either having broken into the England squad last year.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:59 amOur history on loan signings from London clubs is not great We have brought media bigged up players like Chalobah,Bamford.Drinkwater all bombed
