January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
There will be no overhaul in the summer. Just a couple of signings to add to the constant can kicking.

Be interesting to see Mr Pace's comments.after this. His bullish earlier remarks now look like making him appear naive at best.

Beginning to think that when we reach the Summer window and simply need to replace those OOC, our only hope will be players who themselves are OOC. Bit like our early SD years eg Heaton, Jones, Arfield. Hope I am wrong, but I dont see the club stumping up any money

Another signing that would have improved us.

Wouldn’t say he has had average performances at all. He’s played pretty well for a big club and will no doubt have a good career at the top level.

Summer transfer business more likely to be funded by the sale of assets Dwight and Tarks than any investment from ALK.

I don't see any value in getting a kid in on loan, as a longer term signing that's a different matter. Whoever comes in (nobody by the looks of it) will either need to watch from the bench or walk into the team - not going to happen with a loanNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:01 pmCome on Vegas this guy is better on the ball than of our midfield bar McNeil.

Thankfully fans arent allowed in the stadium, as their opinions might have a negative impact on results and our stay in this league.
Who and why have they let it get this so bad for so long, hang your heads in shame

The thing is, Macca, that it's not really that bad.
They will point to top ten finishes, and until recently a healthy bank balance.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
So is that every team below and around us that have managed to sign somebody then?
Over the past 4 years, we've replaced our recruitment team, CEO and now owners, and still the same old sh*t. Clearly the blame is with Sean. My theory, he is too scared of upsetting the dressing room so would prefer to stick with what he has.

You were blaming Garlick last window, and unwilling to listen to reason.
Who you blaming this window? Anyone but the real life circumstances we are in?

True, hopefully they announce season ticket prices very soon, and all can be forgotten again until August.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:23 pmThe thing is, Macca, that it's not really that bad.

Sean will feel let down with the positive noises re transfers being just total rubbish and I can see him seriously questioning his future. He had nonsense off the last board re funds and deserves to be backed by the new board not shafted

Maybe he just realises now more than ever isn’t the time to try and extract value out of the transfer market.
Some people need to wake up and realise we haven’t been taken over by football rich people.

55m in cash reserves we had over the summer... 55m.... FIFTY FIVE MILLION
That has now gone into the previous share holders pockets...

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Summer window was a bad one no doubt about it. Sean’s hands tied by the board with the takeover looming in the background and the past board not wanting to pony up. I was slightly more optimistic for this January window, partly spurred on by Pace’s comments but look around at what other clubs are doing....not much at all.
Liverpool signing a CB from PNE for £2m.... not exactly pulling up trees is it? The apparent “targets” we were looking at across both windows; Kenny, King, Arter et al again aren’t exactly pulling up trees at their current employers and would you really want to smash the wage structure to get one of those through the doors for the sake of announcing someone on deadline day? I’d much rather give the likes of Mumbongo 10 mins from the bench then sign Joshua King for £8m+ and apparent wages of £100k a week. Benchmarking against other clubs who have Brighton, Newcastle, WBA signed that would walk into our lineup and be the difference between us or them going down? Dyche has the final say on this and if he can’t see anything out there worth stretching the budgets for then wholeheartedly behind him.
If it’s a case of stick or twist, based on everything I’ve seen in Jan so far it’s stick every day of the week.

I don't think anyone has ever referred to the new owners as that, given the way they have used other people's money to acquire the club.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:30 pm

The money certainly isn't imaginary. It is sitting on our balance sheet under the heading 'creditors'.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:35 pmYou wouldn’t have thought that the case given all this imaginary money they are spending on their behalf.

Don’t think we know that it’s gone in Garlicks pockets (yet!) but I agree that it’s in fathomable that we have had that level of cash, no debt and still couldn’t sign players.MACCA wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:32 pmGarlick has let it het this bad, I hoped the new guys had possibly got here just in time to salvage something from this window, but appears they didn't.

I was roundly criticised on here when protesting in the summer window that we had money for signings. No way we had the £42m left, Covid had cost millions, etc, etc, then we found out it had actually grown & we had £55m.
Dread to think who our competitors would’ve signed last window if they had no debt and £55m in the bank!

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I don’t think it unreasonable to think Dyche and Pace discussed the clubs up and coming young players when they reached decisions about how far to go in signing the players mentioned this window.
I’m happy again to trust the judgement of our manager and chairman and don’t think it’s purely down to money at the end of the day.
I fully emphasise with those fans who are disappointed but
I’m positive that the best is yet to come on and off the playing field. I’m excited at seeing the plans for improving the stadium and accompanying atmosphere at matches.
Surely no one is daring enough to say Pace is a Fraud and Garlick has sold us down the river. Are they?

If we get relegated the ground becomes pointless and the squad we have lacks depth in key positions and quality in others, mainly right wing.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:43 pmI don’t think it unreasonable to think Dyche and Pace discussed the clubs up and coming young players when they reached decisions about how far to go in signing the players mentioned this window.

If it's yet another broken window at least Mr Rigg can sleep easy, after all, he did identify Collins & Kenny, something none of us could surely have done ! What wage does he take out of our club again ?
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Well given the money is imaginary, I wouldn't have thought it existed, so probably doesn't have a tangible location.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:41 pmYou don’t need to explain what a creditor is.
We were taking about where all the imaginary money is to buy players, you just pointed out we are in debt.
As for being in debt, that is certainly not imaginary, and could well impede any attempts to sign players. You said people need to realise the owners aren't rich - that should be very obvious to anyone who has been paying attention.

Stay up - we got lucky no thanks to the board/they new what they were doing
Go down - sack everybody/we'll bounce back
