Only the pillocks without a brain cell ...
Not quite that simple, the average Burnley fan traditionally expects very little transfer wise and many initially. when realising the club was being bought on debt accepted that this low expectation was still relevant and when understanding the 50mil in the bank was used in the deal further accepted things wouldn’t change
But
Pace said we would spend and Dyche wouldn’t be frustrated so I think it’s this that gave false hope.
It was obvious he was preparing for no spend by pointing the finger at agents.
Feels like misdirection

For those amongst you who think this window has been a tad disappointing

Remember, if you can go back far enough, the Orient game

This takeover £120 mil debt at £10mil a year interest could make crashing back to that point more likely than having £50 mil in the bank

Not a chance.
We don't get near enough to either the ball or their players to get hurt.

I doubt you’ll see a smile on Alan’s face.

If I’m understanding correctly the loans that make up the takeover are secured against club assets and will be paid back including the interest by turnover profits
So unless I’m missing something we had 50mil in the bank and now we have a debt to pay off of 120mil plus interest

Don’t think so mate. I don’t think anyone really knows, but on the face of it there’s £98m equity + a loan, + some future payments to make (unfunded atm).

Went back to his last interview to confirm what AP saw as the vision for the club
I thought I had misheard him the first time but he actually says "I would love Sean to be here for the next 20 to 30 years"
Nothing against SD, but is that quote really the positive note for us to hang on to, or the ramblings of a guy who is living in a dream world
Dyche would then beat Hodgson's record as the oldest Prem manager !
And we would still be in hard negotiations to try and get Lansbury and Driver to sign contracts ;)

Would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall in the board room today:

AP: so Mike, it’s deadline day, what do we do? Up our offer on Collins?

MG: don’t worry about that, Stoke will fax us back. They’ll get desperate as the day passes. Let them blink first...

Tick tock tick tock

AP: it’s 10pm Mike, shouldn’t we do something?

MG: Don’t worry, it’s always like this on deadline day. Everything comes together at the last minute.

23:01

MG: Oh well, that’s it for another year then. Best put this fax machine away.

The thing is Elizabeth EVEN I (bizarrely noted for my unswerving pessimism) believe we have enough to stay up, BUT as has been said by many, we're only 1 or 2 injuries to the really key players (Tarks/Mee essentially) from all that dramatically changing. What happened in the early part of the season was frightening and we were simply cannon fodder, even for the mediocre/below average teams like Newcastle. The back up we have in certain key positions is clearly not good enough and if called upon we'll be bu****ed!! Hence I really would have slept a whole lot better with just 1 (maybe 2) decent, considered signings.
But would you be sleeping better in a weeks time if Tarks/Mee got injured after we had brought in a couple of players in different positions that everyone was happy with? You’d have got the signings you wanted but had the problem you didn’t want.
And you don’t need to tell me about your unswerving pessimism ( blind man on galloping horse et al ).

For all those moaners, it's not Burnley who've had a quiet window.

It’s been the quietest window since 2012 – that was the last time you had under £100 million spent in the window.

It's in complete contrast to this time last year which was the second highest window when £230 million was spent.

But Covid has impacted in more ways than one, the most obvious being the way that the clubs have been hit so hard financially.

I'm just glad this transfer nonsense is over for another few months, and we can finally get back to discussing the action on the pitch again.

Where incidentally we've actually been doing rather well in recent weeks if folks hadn't noticed.

It seems that in some people’s minds West Brom are safe from relegation now they have brought in 5 players . Will be watching that one closely .

That’s what his croupier said.
It’s good though that bfc won’t take on anyone’s debt .....

But Covid has impacted in more ways than one, the most obvious being the way that the clubs have been hit so hard financially.
I’d thought it might have been an ideal time to take advantage of some of the clubs that have been hit so hard financially.

No doubt it’s affected us but we were assured that there was money available and that the January window was a priority.

When was the last time we came out of a window stronger than we entered it? Our squad is getting older, the games are coming thick and fast and we’ve seen that injuries are taking their toll.

We’ve rolled the dice (again) let’s just hope that we don’t come to regret it.

Huge number of deals done in the Prem today....

Premier League

22:55: Ainsley Maitland-Niles [Arsenal - West Brom] Loan

22:00: Ozan Kabak [Schalke - Liverpool] Loan

20:00: Ben Davies [Preston - Liverpool] £2m

18:50: Joe Willock [Arsenal - Newcastle] Loan

18:00: Okay Yokuslu [Celta Vigo - West Brom] Loan

16:00: Moises Caicedo [Independiente del Valle - Brighton] £4m

We're not the only ones, every club are in the same position and everyone is searching for the same bargains
And I thought from reading posts from posters focusing on the ALK thread it was because we have been conned by the Yanks. Maybe there’s still time for the Yanks to come good if nearly every club has pretty much decided to stay as they are , and those that have done anything have mostly done loans.
