The Darling Buds of May to be remade

Just read reports that the classic drama which starred David Jason, Pam Ferris & Catherine Zeta Jones is being primed for a new update with Bradley Walsh in the main role of Pop, and Joanna Scanlan as Ma Larkin, it'll be called The Larkins. No news on who will reprise the CZJ role of Mariette as yet.

I'm prepared to wait and see what they come up with, but there does appear to be glut of remakes recently, and you do wonder why they insist on trying to recreate something which was 'perfick in it's day, and still remains timeless now, it rarely if ever matches up to the original.

I know exactly what you mean tiger but must admit to thoroughly enjoying "All creatures great and small" on Channel 5 .... extremely well done and much closer to the books than the original BBC TV series.

I never watched it but whoever gets Catherine's role is on a hiding to nothing.

I don't think you can get any more beautiful than her at that time.

They do remakes because nobody has come up with better alternatives.

I think Bradley Walsh is better as a quiz presenter. I won't be able to take it seriously. I'll be expecting a "BRING ON THE CHASE".

TV and film makers seem to struggle for new ideas so these days remakes are an easy option but as often happens they are never as good as the originals.

Michelle Keegan? she might be in the frame, well known, got the looks, and more importantly she's also a brunette, Oh! plus she can actually act. :)

She lacks personality, big time. But if she never said anything, she'd have a chance ;)

Would be a backward step for her.

She's married for the money since Corrie, so think she's due to take something :D

Still wouldn't want to see her in this, also lead role in Brassic

It worked for CzJ because she was still an unknown, only 21/22 and fresh faced as a result, ideal for the country girl look.

Keegan is 33 now, not so fresh faced looking, not to put down her looks, but you get my drift.

No need to explain, get it. Keegan would do anything for money. Like I say, married for money. Money was always her target.

"Nuts in May".....a 70's Mike Leigh film also worth the watch.
Probably only for those of us at a certain age though. Originally a 'play for today'.

Anything that keeps reality shows or the Poisoned Geordies off the tv has to be worth a go

When you look like she does, I’d forgive the fact she’s vapid.

Michelle. “We going out for something to eat Bobby?”

Bobinho. “No we’re not... get up them stairs”

Michelle. “Shall we go to see my parents?”

Bobinho. “No we shan’t... get up them stairs”

Michelle. “I’m off to the doctors for my Covid-19 vaccine”

Bobinho. “No you’re not... get up them stairs”

Ad infinitum....

I worked with one of her cousins at the time. He thought she was pretty normal. I'm not sure how long that lasted after she became famous though. Most of them stay pretty normal til they leave Wales for the big time.

I judge them by how often they're in the news.

She isn't really and I vaguely recall reading that she still visits family in Wales with hubby in tow etc.
