In that case lets get the MP's and non working so-called 'celebrities' to get off their arses too.....box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:41 amDamn right. They sit around all year doing absolutely feck all!
While I doubt you’ve got a days work in you , it’s called public spirit and doing your bit in an unprecedented crisis .ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 9:58 amSo they want to have people do a job for free in conditions that they may come into contact with Covid-19?
Why can't we just pay people.
Are you doing it then ?AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:00 pmWhile I doubt you’ve got a days work in you , it’s called public spirit and doing your bit in an unprecedented crisis .
The sheer admin that would be needed to officially employ 1000’s like this would be preposterous and staggeringly time consuming .
The countries been on it’s knees for the past 10 month. Public spirit? There isn’t any. Public spirit comes when the public sees something to get behind. The armed forces should have been in training for months ready and waiting to mass vaccination of the population. If that would have happened the general public would bounce right off that. We’ve been told this is this countries biggest crises for decades, the term “front line” used over and over again. Get the armed forces involved, the have the man/woman power.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:00 pmWhile I doubt you’ve got a days work in you , it’s called public spirit and doing your bit in an unprecedented crisis .

The armed forces are too busy fighting off an invasion of French fishermen.Dyched wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:07 pm

Clearly my sarcasm didn’t quite shine through.Sutton-Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:51 amIn that case lets get the MP's and non working so-called 'celebrities' to get off their arses too.....
I’m not doing it no ,but neither am I being derisive to those who wish to help .I’ve absolute respect for anyone who gives up their own unpaid time to help others be it food banks /Covid marshals/homeless shelters etc etc . The volunteers are needed mainly as marshals/ keeping “traffic” flow and general admin so the qualified staff can get through the workload . Of course they should be paid, but the NHS is a bureaucracy par excellenceTVC15 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:05 pmAre you doing it then ?
Maybe if the government and NHS did things like gave their nurses the vaccine before asking them to administer this in Covid ridden situations they were placed in before Christmas then people might be a bit more prepared to help out.
If this is what they expect from their loyal paid employees to do after working on the front line for nearly a year in some awful conditions and seeing many of their colleagues die how do you think they are going to be with the volunteers to whom they have no responsibility ?
Lots...... There's a big world out there away from UTC messageboard....Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 2:53 pmHas anyone actually moaned or been derisive to the volunteers who wish to help? Ive seen people moan about them not getting paid and give reasons why some might not feel the desire to volunteer but Ive not seen any criticism or moaning about volunteers themselves.
Doubt it... I haven't got an uncle, but can hear the radio and TV where people have been having a moan about busy bodies etc, like some did about Olympic Marshalls...Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 3:18 pmI get you're trying to reverse off your point as usual but I very much doubt there our lots of people in the big outside world having a go at people for volunteering to help marshal and assist to the Covid-19 vaccination centres across Lancs and South Cumbria
Im sure one of your uncles next door neighbours sister has experienced it so it must be true
I wouldn't make stuff up, I've better things to do, like volunteeringDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 3:42 pmYou're just making stuff up now which is a bit sad really but i'll leave you to it. Hopefully the thread will have its intended purpose and get a few people who have the time and inclination to sign up and give their support
