CP have 17 players entering their last 6 months of playing contract with some big names included, wonder what issues there are behind the scenes?

I believe so but they went down this route of bringing in American owners but keeping the original chairman and I'm sure there has been a clash.

The one player we should be chasing on that list is Mitchell the 20 year old left back. He’s a really good player and would be great back up for Taylor long term.

Legs can go pretty quickly so best not to over commit to the players

Bad news for them, potentially good news for us - Palace are one of very few clubs where I think it's a reasonable possibility both that they would offer Sean Dyche a job, and that he would take it. But not if they're in shambles with no players, and I don't think he would want to step into an owenership/chairman dispute!!

Crikey! Look at the ages of that squad. I thought ours was bad.
Also, I can’t believe Connor Wickham is still only 27. I remember him bursting onto the scene as the next big thing what seems like at least 20 years ago.

Can we get over this myth/obsession that Dyche would go to/or be chased by an average club.
He’s proven he’s a top manager, in the worlds best league. On top of this he is hugely ambitious and feels he has the ability to match his ambition.
Dyche will go to a club he feels would best suit his career. At the moment that’s Burnley, in the future that could be another club. The only club I’m worried about currently is Leicester should they lose Brendan.
The takeover is obviously a huge plus for Dyche and his team, but one day we will lose him, and it will be upwards.

Would take Schlupp who would offer something different to McNeil on the left and allow him to have a rest from time to time. 28 so a 3 year contract would be just fine.

Dyche has been signalling "come and get me" since last Spring. If someone like Palace or Newcastle had approached him to manage them in the last few months, bearing in mind Dyche's obvious falling out with Garlick, I would have been surprised if he hadn't gone.

Dyche has been planning a exit strategy based on:
His falling out with the Chairman, which was total.
And
The impending takeover and if he was being retained.
That’s just good personal management.
He won’t go to a similar status team, when he goes he will go to a contender to break into the top 10/6 or get one of the top jobs. He is a top manager.

I would say there is practically no chance of Leicester signing Dyche currently.
There playing style completely contrasts Dyche.

That, in a nutshell, is what I think may hold Dyche back. Perhaps, if he has more to spend under ALK, we may see a gradual adjustment in playing style.

This is the problem with most fans, you’re judging his ability as a manager in his current limitations.
He’s pragmatic, he understands football, and he understands the limitations of his squad and the club. This manifests itself as the performances we see week in week out.
He’s a fantastic manager, with a fantastic back room staff. They could manage at ANY club and change the way they set up a team.

I don't see a top 6 side, and not even a top 10 side going for him, due to him not yet managing a side to play better football. Like mentioned, if he gets a bit to spend and gets us playing better and finishing in the table well, that's when he'll be more appealing.

No, it’s the problem with those recruiting managers. He’s a great manager and may well easily adjust to a new style but I don’t see many at the higher end taking that risk.
That’s why I believe that having a bit more to spend with us could actually benefit Dyche longer term, assuming he adapts the style of play.

Daniel if no decent club has recruited Dyche when he was at his peak (after qualification into Europe) what makes you think they will now?
Leicester will no doubt be chasing Tuchel, Nagelsman or even Gerrard before they consider Dyche.
It’s not just playing style it is Ethos, Dyche has been excellent when he has full control of a club from academy to first team. At Leicester he would be the first team manager with very little say on transfers or the way the club is being ran.

It isn't, as that's all you can currently judge him on. Anything else is presumptions and hope.
There's nothing at all to suggest he could manage any club and change the way he gets his team playing, because he's not yet done it. It would be based on confidence.
Which is why if he gets more money to spend, and gets us playing better football, along with of course keeping us in a health league position, that's when more eyebrows will be raised from the bigger clubs.

All successful managers have a style of play and Dyches is most certainly not the Leicester style
I would like us to play a little more free flowing football, but if Dyche tried to turn us into a Leicester it would end in disaster for us and him

Our football was decent but it wasn’t anywhere near the style that clubs like Leicester want from a manager. We played a rigid 442/4411 with a lot 1-0 wins. That just isn’t what big clubs want nowadays, they want attractive all out attack football. Hence why Bielsa is getting so much praise for achieving so little.
I would actually go as far as saying Bielsa will walk into any club in the prem ahead of Dyche, purely down to playing style. That’s how fickle the league is.

Dyche introduced a better quality player and changed our style was the point.
If he had the resources and backing to introduce more better quality players then our style would change.
Yes I know there's been a massive media **** fest over bielsa, resulting in him being nominated for Fifa manager of the year

, but they're shipping nearly as many goals as they're scoring, he's similar to Howe in that respect.

I believe Dyche will go on to manage a top team. On the most limited budget, he has had Burnley in the Premier League for 6 out of the past 7 seasons. The one season out of those 7 that he wasn't in the Premier League, he was busy winning the Championship with a side that were joint top scorers, second tightest defence and went half a season unbeaten. That to me says a Manager who knows what he is doing and how to make the most out of the resources at his disposal. I heard many a doom monger when he took over from Eddie Howe and immediately put an end to the need to score 3 goals every game just to get a point. My response at the time was i am encouraged that he straight away identified the weaknesses within the side and style of play and set about rectifying it. Judge him at the end of next season when he has had time to bring in his own players and develop his way of playing. We won promotion to the Premier League at the end of that season.
Would he be able to adapt to a different style of play with better players at his disposal? Given his track record, i am damned sure he would, though as ever it remains conjecture until such time as either we are in a position to afford a better class of player or he joins a club that can.

I assume Hodgson does not have the same clout at Palace that SD has enjoyed here
In which case someone else has agreed all of these contracts and maybe the new owners there have said enough is enough and are prepared to let some very expensive contracts run down to start again
You couldn't blame them for that
And I would expect they would prefer a younger, forward thinking manager to oversee any change
So that's Dyche out of the frame
Only joking !!!!
Would not be surprised to see Thomas Frank joining the Premier League next season whether Brentford go up or not

Interesting thing to note about Palace.
Despite all that money they pay out in wages, their highest ever PL finish is 10th and they've done that only once.
We spend less and we've have x2 finishes 10th or higher

How did our style change? Defour literally only played like 20 games that season. We still played 442 and tried to get a lead and hold it.
Dyche is absolutely fantastic for Burnley and I don’t think there is a manager in world football that could have done the same.
But I also think Burnley are a rare club that have supported Dyche. There has been a couple of occasions where Dyche would most likely have been sacked at any other club. Burnley allow Dyche to imprint his ethos, of hearts legs mind.
Anyone that thinks Dyche would go to Leicester and them scoring 3 goals a game is just naive.
His style is 442 with a strong defensive shape and it will always be regardless of quality of player.
Similar to mourinho, he will always play a form of 433 with a strong defensive shape.
Sadly manager likes them are a dieing breed. Hence why I believe the likes of Gerrard, Bielsa, Nagelsman etc.... will all be considered for top prem jobs well before Dyche.

The season when Defour played so well was 2017/18 when we didn't play 442 - we played more 451 or 4411 with Hendrick as the attacking midfield player.

Not exactly change of style though Tony is it. Sam Vokes and Barnes still played 66 out of a possible 76 premier league games that season.

What is this ******** about SDs playing style. He plays the way he does with the players he has at his disposal. Look at the football and the goals in our two promotion years. Better players in a worse league and we played some lovely stuff. Better players in the PL he would do the same.
