1920 player picture help please
1920/21 league winners.
The 2 on the left are Len Smelt and George Halley
Anybody any ideas who the player on the right is?
Re: 1920 player picture help please
Bert Freeman?
Re: 1920 player picture help please
Actually, I think it could be Tommy Boyle.

Could be Tommy Boyle. Seems to have similar wavy hair in this photo

Could be a younger Tommy Boyle.
Maybe the pictures are not all from the same
Year.
There are 3 different shirts.
I just guessed at 1920.

Re: 1920 player picture help please
It is indeed William Emerson, who signed for us towards the end of the 1921/22 season. He took the No.4 shirt ironically from George Halley (one of the other two Burnley players pictured) and played 44 league games for us. William was signed from our feeder club Glentoran, famous of course for the later signings of Alex Elder and the greatest of them all Jimmy Mac. Emerson returned to Glentoran after two years with us.Athletico mtoto wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 2:51 pm90B292D0-A85F-4CF8-A927-EDFC5B90B38C.jpeg

Re: 1920 player picture help please
I’ve had a look at a few pictures on google
since starting the thread.
The names quoted have led to looking at other
player pictures and Billy Emerson looks the most
likely
