Recovering and apparently been in ICU, and I read it as now off ICU,-said he will be watching the FA Cup game against Southampton-so looking good for him

STEVE COTTERILL COVID UPDATE: The #Shrewsbury manager is still in hospital but recovering after a period in intensive care. He'll be watching tomorrow's FA Cup game at Southampton from his hospital bed. Asst-manager Aaron Wilbraham holding the reins.

Having had it for three weeks and feeling my lungs to be shrinking on a daily basis, it was such a relief a week ago that things took a turn for the better for me. I never experienced physical pain but in the back of my mind, I was starting to panic a little, that I could get myself into a bit of a mess.

I really hope Steve is ok. This virus can get anyone. Hopefully, he’s still in good shape snd able to get back to normality quite quickly. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Hadn't Cotterill had issues with lungs before? I think took some time out for an operation a few years ago?

Get well soon Steve! I didn't realise he was at Shrewsbury town. I always think of John Bond in his flatcap hiding in the stand when we went down there in the cup. We won 2-1 from memory, a great night game.

I've contacted Shrewsbury today and passed on mine and our good wishes to Steve. I've just heard back from their CEO who has passed on those messages. He said Steve was really appreciative and has passed on his thanks.

I’ve seen a video knocking about on question time where someone points out how few people under 60 with no co-morbidites have died from covid. The joke is being overweight is a co-mobidity, and nearly 40% of under 60s are classed as overweight.

I haven't spoken to him in a while but he's a good friend of mine and I was a bit upset when I heard the news so I'm really pleased he's improving. The CEO at Shrewsbury has been really helpful too.

Yes read about this this morning. Good to hear he is out if ICU and recovering, get well soon Steve.

Glad he seems to be on the mend. Just out of interest does anyone know if he was otherwise fit and healthy before catching Covid? The only reason I ask is that he always struck me as a fairly healthy chap, not overweight and didn't appear to be a big drinker or anything. So if it hospitalises someone like that it just shows how careful everyone needs to be. Staggering that some idiots are still blatantly ignoring the rules.

Had a very good start at Shrewsbury with 1-0 away wins at Lincoln, Doncaster and Hull who were all top 4 in the league when the games were played.

I wish Steve a strong recovery and return to managing the club. I've always felt he has not reached his potential something Michael Duff reinforced in my mind recently when he said Cotts was his go to advisor tactically. He also played a big part in our progression back to the big time.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

I think he did a brilliant job for us and he did begin to build a team, that's for sure, but I'm not sure he was ever going to deliver and, when he left, it felt the right time for me.

Terrible times we are living in. Lost my Uncle Bert to it last week and it hurts. Went into hospital covid free and came out with it. Back into hospital and they couldn’t save him.
He was Claret through and through. At Wembley for the ‘62 final and took me to Bloomfield Rd, Deadwood and OT for games as well as always being on the Longside with us.
I'm sure many others on here have lost family and friends so condolences to you all.

I'd agree with you that he did a brilliant job for us and his team building left Coyle with players such as Duff, Carlisle, Caldwell, Blake, Elliott etc. Maybe it was time for him to leave when he did, maybe we wouldn't have gone up with him, that we'll never know. But, friend or not, to compare Steve Cotterill favourably with Sean Dyche is somewhat far fetched.

It's not far fetched, it's bloody ridiculous... but then you only have to look at the back catalogue of the person who posted it.

Get well soon Steve. He certainly brought in some good players and did a great job keeping us in the championship but it was Coyle that got the best out of those players. They both played their part in laying the foundation of our current run in the Premier league but neither of them were as capable a manager as Dyche, by a long way.

Glad to hear Steve Cotterill is on the mend, wishing him a full and speedy recovery, he certainly played his role in our return to the big time, although it was probably the right time for him to move on when he did.

He's out of intensive care but has now been in hospital for 2 weeks. Hopefully on the mend.

Good to see he's out of intensive care anyway, hope he makes a full recovery and there's no long term affects.

He may need to take some time out from management though, possibly the rest of the season to ensure he's back to full health again.

He's apparently had a bad week and keeps having setbacks but he's still involved in picking the Shrewsbury team.
