Superb. Seen him perform this a few times. Probably the Smiths greatest moment, an absolute masterpiece that wasn't even one of they're promoted singles. Think it was originally a B side.

One of their best.
He’s a bit odd, but it works for me.
“What difference does it make” stands out for me as probably my favourite. The guitar work at the end I could listen to repeated for days.

Difficult to pick a favourite Smiths track because it means omitting so many others worthy of the title. If I had to pick one I'd go for That Joke isn't funny Anymore.

Great song but not one of my favs of the Smiths by a long way.
See it in the same way as Fools Gold by the Roses in that they're both classed as one of the respective bands top tracks and musically are adventurous and original but overall both lack the punchiness and quality of some of the other songs there were releasing at the time
Give me songs like Hand In Glove, Bigmouth, Headmaster Ritual and Panic etc any day of the week

Marr always claimed his influence for 'How Soon is Now' came from this song:

Interesting association.

I think it's clearer when you listen to 'Hello' playing 'New York Groove', which was an unashamed rip off of Disco Stomp:

My daughter used to watch Buffy the vampire slayer religiously, and I think the theme for that was a cover of “how soon is now”. She loved it but when I played her the smiths original version she was hooked. Absolutely loves em now...

I think it was 'Charmed' that had the How soon is now cover. Put the Smiths on a whole new generation's radar.

OK,
Joined in with the Smiths music night.
Clicked on the Charmed theme, why on earth did I instantly link this to the Hollyoaks theme, absolutely convinced. But no, instead I run into a nightmare of naff Smiths covers (T.A.T.U. anyone

)

The best documentary I’ve come across for more ardent smiths listeners, an interesting insight into the marr & morrissey fallout.

On a Smith's theme, my lad is obsessed with this version of Panic sung by his local hero

When my son was teaching himself guitar, this particular tune was a constant in our house. 3 years on and he's in a band and writing his own stuff. It makes me so happy to listen to him play, especially when he says 'come and listen to this Dad' when he's come up with something new.
As an aside, in Sep 2019, the day after my lad's 21st birthday, I got him and me tickets at the Albert Hall in Manchester, to see Johnny Marr on the final night of his tour. He was fantastic and my lad was over the moon with the present.
