that is impressive, given the relative maturity of the 2 Academies
Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
Didn't realise Unwin was so young, he has turned out for the u23 a couple of times hasn't he? Great victory for them.

Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
I believe that United needed to win this by 3 clear goals to go through to the next stages but can't find any more details of our standing.
Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
Never heard of Kamil Maciag (who's 16) and he's not listed on the club website in the U18 squad. Tried to Google him and came up with a blank. The name Maciag appears to be Polish.

Found this from October last year -
The U17 Premier League Cup will begin next week in seven regionalised groups of four. The group winners plus the best runner-up advance to the last eight. Liverpool are the only Cat 1 side not taking part; Sheffield Utd, Wigan and Millwall represent Cat 2.
We're in Group F with Man Utd, Everton and Wigan.

Club don't list players who are still at school (i.e. under-16s or younger)

I have been unable to find out the result of Everton v Wigan which I think was also played today, however, the winner of the group goes through to the Quarter Finals with the other 6 Group Winners and the best runner up from the 7 Groups.Leisure wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 3:08 pmFound this from October last year -

The situation today was that all four clubs had won one game with the results being:
Wigan 3 Manchester United 2: Everton 3 Burnley 1 -----games played in October
Manchester United 3 Everton 2: Burnley 2 Wigan 1 --games played in November.
Manchester United 1 Burnley 4: Everton v Wigan ? --games played today
Working on goal difference if Everton won by better than 2-1 then they would top the Group. If Wigan won they would have needed to have won by 3 clear goals to top the group, otherwise Burnley would top the Group with a 7-5 goal difference.

According to Grand Old Teams forums. Wigan won 2-1 last week. https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/thre ... /page-1807Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 5:01 pmI have been unable to find out the result of Everton v Wigan which I think was also played today, however, the winner of the group goes through to the Quarter Finals with the other 6 Group Winners and the best runner up from the 7 Groups.

That being the case, both the Clarets and Everton have exactly the same goal difference 7-5.
I wonder if they will work it out in head to head, in which case Everton would go through and that would be a shame.
Edited because I have just confirmed that it goes on a head to head basis.

Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
If Wigan won 2-1 then we top the group on head to head or goals difference/goals scored. Us and Wigan both on 6 points for 2 wins and 1 defeat with Everton and Man Utd 3 each for their 1 win and 2 defeatsAshingtonclaret46 wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 5:53 pmThat being the case, both the Clarets and Everton have exactly the same goal difference 7-5.

Wigan 3 Manchester United 2: Everton 3 Burnley 1
Manchester United 3 Everton 2: Burnley 2 Wigan 1
Manchester United 1 Burnley 4: Everton 1 Wigan 2
Surely that puts us top on goal difference of 7-5. Wigan 2nd with a goal difference of 6-5?
Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
Wigan have only scored 6.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 5:53 pmThat being the case, both the Clarets and Everton have exactly the same goal difference 7-5.

Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
Sorry guys, my bad mistake. BenWickes did link to the Everton website and I misread the answer to the question.
Wigan did indeed win and 2-1 and we should go through to the Quarter Finals. Sorry to cause consternation amongst fellow Clarets, it has been a starnge day in Ashington today for various reasons.
Please accept my apologies!

Re: Burnley U17's Premier League Cup today
In your defence, the reply on the Everton board was a little ambiguous with it saying 'they won'. If I was talking about any BFC team on a BFC forum of any kind and describing the result I would say, "We won" or "We lost" as I would assume everyone would expect me to be talking about BFC.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 6:59 pmSorry guys, my bad mistake. No need to apologise. Easily done. As mentioned above the Everton fan was a bit ambiguous.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: βTue Jan 26, 2021 6:59 pmSorry guys, my bad mistake. BenWickes did link to the Everton website and I misread the answer to the question.
