For balance i've seen plenty on social media praising us. Can't judge an entire fan base on one small internet forum!

Personally I feel for them, I thought the grass was a bit to long, so it's difficult to play proper football when it's like that. From European places at half time to mediocrity and falling by the time the final whistle was blown

Over these last 4 1/2 seasons - 171 games - how many times have we heard fans and managers grumbling about us and asking how on earth they lost a game against us? Even Klopp last week said it was impossible to lose that game but that they managed to, rather than we had won it!

Probably because they've had a few decent results like stuffing Liverpool for 7. They have obviously forgotten how sh1te they were before someone spunked £200million on them. All humility disappeared when that happened

I'm sure the BBC comments section underneath each match report is heavily moderated but it's a far more balanced and enjoyable read - especially as you get views from neutrals which are generally very favourable towards how we do what we do so well

My favourite comment was this-

We could just as easily reply-

Villa did nothing in the last 45 minutes.

Grealish had kept them in it till then"...

Reading that thread , the general attitude is, "if we could only beat crap teams like Burnley, we'd be good!"

Some of those comments made me laugh out loud. Completely blinkered, delusional morons.

Money. They think that football is about money and that clubs with less money should stand aside and let them win. Some of them accept that a goalkeeper is part of a team and it doesn't matter how good the XG stats are if the keeper keeps saving the shots; others think that XG does matter and the 3-2 goals statisitc is a flawed way to measure the result.

They all think that Burnley are a team of thugs, and that we were kicking them about all night. (I don't know how that squares with the fact that they have had more players sent off this season than we have in four years.)

They all think that Aston Villa get far too few free kicks and the referees don't like them. Most of them think that several Burnley players should have been booked for repeated fouls and for particularly violent fouls. (No examples given.) I suspect they all think that there were far more than 16 free kicks given against Burnley, and that by a referee determined to give a free kick whenever he could even pretend to see a foul.

They all think that the second goal was a fluke, and some of them think that the third was a fluke because it was a difficult header.

It's part comedy and part head-shaking. Football fans are supposed to be one-eyed, but they don't even use the one eye they have!

And one of them blames Burnley for crocking Tom Heaton last season.
