There must be a veritable army of estate agents, car salesman, replacement-window salesmen, etc etc who must be salivating at the prospect of getting some of our young keyboard warriors into their clutches. The idea that whatever the transaction you should just pay over the first asking price without negotiation, haggling or consideration about value for money must be music to their ears. In time it is hoped that some of these who seem to know best how to spend someone else’s money will emerge into the real world and likely not be quite so free spending when they have to use their own money.

Negotiating and haggling is a fine idea, but the point of said haggling is eventually to sign someone surely ?

Why couldn't this snooze-fest of an OP have gone on the other thread about signing players?

I for 1 dont csre about.mutiple threads. Raising a post moaning about why its not continued on another thread when the moaning poster could simply move on and type nothing related to said thread - dont get it.. ignore and move on

It's not the market to negotiate for the very reason you don't pay the asking price somebody else will, you pay the money or you don't sign the player it's that simple, you are not operating in a turkish bazaar.

Will most likely come out and say how difficult this window was because of Covid blah blah blah. This window is the worst window in the last 5 years and the new owners are to blame.

Maitland Niles would have been a great loan for us.

I think, given the way the club was recently bought, that we have our explanation for why the money that we had wasn't made available in previous windows.

The Stoke lad is a strange one, if he's that good (?) then surely 8-10 million isn't that much of a risk for a PL team who is clearly going to lose Tarkowski in the summer

Completey agree. How much do we expect to get a quality centre half for. We all know he would be Tarks replacement for next season so to not bid up to 12 million which we'd at least get for Tarky is shocking. We clearly think he's good enough otherwise why are we bidding. We paid more for Gibson for crying out loud

I'm fairly relaxed about this window, now if we were a few points worse off I'd be worried, but we're only a few more wins from securing safety, so if it's a choice between paying silly money, or waiting until the summer, then I'll happily wait until the summer.

Wait for what though? If Collins keeps playing as well as he is his price will only increase and if we won't pay it now then we have little chance come the summer.

Surely the question here is not what he's worth but whether Stoke would want to sell him?

Did Collins want to come? The narrative from Stoke was that he preferred to play 1st team football. Is this the Gibson effect?

They've turned the bid down and asked for 10 millon - that would suggest they would sell him surely ? I genuinely have zero knowledge about this lad so don't know how I would value him. At some point the white flag waving has to stop or we will be fielding 40 year olds in League 1

I've not seen anyhing to suggest that the player wants a move.
Have Burnley placed a bid ( £2.5m if we go on our track record)?
If we have bid, would this player want to come and sit on our bench?

I've only seen the odd press report (clearly doesn't ever make it factual) that stated they wanted 10 and we've bid nowhere near that the first time, then gone back in around 7 million and they turned it down wanting the 10. As to the player wanting to move is anyone's guess.........but you would have expected his agent to have let Burnley know that he is otherwise why bid ?

Not much to expect people to post the same stuff in one thread really. Keeps it cleaner. Easier to search. The place is a mess with duplicate threads. I can only think they make a new topic to get more attention. Happens about 4-5 times after each game.
