Please keep any responses respectful and within the guidelines but I thought it was important that this thread should be on the board after he inspired so many of us during last year.
May he rest in peace.

Sad news however I was kind of expecting it.
His family had been allowed to visit him on a general ward suggesting that he was receiving end of life care.

Very sad news, a bright and uplifting story in what has been a pretty dismal 12 months. Also what a last 12 months of life he has had and what wonderful memories for his family.

RIP Sir Tom, an inspiration to many during these troubled times.
Sadly I feared the worst when it was mentioned his family were at his bedside, that's rarely a good sign in these cases.
He may be gone, but he'll certainly never be forgotten.

Very sad, many can only dream of leaving that sort of legacy.
Genuinely really upset me, so glad he enjoyed the last 12 months of his life

What irony to be taken by the thing he fought so hard against.
What a hero he was still is and always will be to the whole nation..... ...... no to the whole world.
RIP SIR TOM.

A proper hero in challenging times. I hope they are able to let us locals out to honour him on the day of his funeral, if only to pay our respects from the side of the road.

Surely no "centurion" has ever had a more eventful final year of their life ... Raised £30M+, national celebrity,TV and radio appearances, RAF fly-past, Knighthood and even a number one record !! Incredible and sad to see him go.

What an example to us all, during difficult times, Captain Sir Tom Moore was.
Ignoring all of the things that he’s done throughout his life and the incredible things he did over the last twelve months, he just came across as a genuinely nice man.
Sad news - rest in peace to a hero.
