Re: Tonight's footy 2/2/21
Can’t see anything on the thread but why was Man U’s penalty changed to a free kick? Looks to be on the line to me, not outside.

Re: Tonight's footy 2/2/21
Sad news.
Bournemouths abject performance means fiddlers will go into tge playoffs if the win their game in hand.
The number of points they are winning in the last 10 minutes is a sign of promotion.
Jammy dodgers.

I can't see any of the bottom 3 getting more than 33 points this season so 34 I think will see us safe.

Zaha going off with a hammy. 3 weeks out would be acceptable.

It did during the game but a close up they showed at half time proved it to the correct decision.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 9:13 pmCan’t see anything on the thread but why was Man U’s penalty changed to a free kick? Looks to be on the line to me, not outside.
Can’t for the life of me work out how they gave Adams offside though for his disallowed goal.

It's a poor do when things like that are given as penalties

Very harsh penalty, never mind sending off ridiculous

Does make you wonder about refs being biased.

VAR hates Southampton that much that its advising the ref to give 20 minutes added time...

Stuck at work listening to talk crap.
They are going mad with the penalty and sending off. They reckon Martial left his leg out, and was going down before Bednarek touched him.
What sort of prat dives when you're already 6 0 up.

Oh and what sort of striker goes down when they can score 8 yards from the goal

Worse still VAR gets the defender sent off, when he's trying to get out of the way.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:09 pmStuck at work listening to talk crap.

Southampton been gash, no doubt, but with ruling out the goal earlier VAR has done em tonight.

Re: Tonight's footy 2/2/21
Madness I go and do my quiz for a few minutes, I come back and the Mancs have whacked another 5 in.
More importantly Newcastle lose at Home, so we've gone up a place, at least for 24 hours.
Looks like 3 from 6 at the bottom now, it's hard to see anybody else Wolves and above getting sucked in.

Football is going in a bad direction. Not enjoyable at all that game. VAR is killing it. Nonsense lines for offside and nonsense sending off.

Very soft penalty at OT. At least if we get the expected pasting tomorrow it might not be the worst result of the week.

Re: Tonight's footy 2/2/21
I've said from day one, there is nothing wrong with VAR.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:19 pmFootball is going in a bad direction. Not enjoyable at all that game. VAR is killing it. Nonsense lines for offside and nonsense sending off.
It's the referees that are incompetent. Even with all the technology that VAR offers, they still get the calls wrong.
This is made worse when referees in the studio, don't like to call the man on the field, and then some numpty like Gallagher rips the rules up to justify it. Like Messlier wiping out Ben Mee.
The bottom line is none of our referees are good enough, they are dodgy at best with the actual rules, but the biggest issue is they don't understand football. The obvious dives, the shirt pulling, the arms in unnatural position, the toenails offside.
It's time for the lot to be sacked. Referees should be ex pros. Players elected to the position by fellow pros, in order that only the best of the best get to train up for the job. By that I mean pros respected for their character, like a Grezza, rather than one who's played for the top 6.
Football won't improve, and VAR will never work until it happens.
