Positives from tonight....
Ahead of our bi-annual thrashing by City, I thought I'd start the "positives from tonight..." thread early so we can maintain a degree of optimism before, during and after the match...
I'll start - we don't have to play City again in the PL this season.

The 3 points won tonight put us in touching distance of the top half with a win on Saturday

both games have occurred early enough in the season for us not to be too dependent on the result going our way - or is that too fatalistic about tonightclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:13 pmThe 3 points won tonight put us in touching distance of the top half with a win on Saturday

I think you have hit the nail on the head ... tonights game will not define our season ... I don't think you're being fatalistic at all.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:15 pmboth games have occurred early enough in the season for us not to be too dependent on the result going our way - or is that too fatalistic about tonight

Re: Positives from tonight....
Will only have Spurs (erratic), Arsenal (erratic), Man U (erratic) and Liverpool (erratic) left to play of the so-called Big 6.....and we could take points off any of them potentially.
That means, after tonight I expect us to be competitive in EVERY game till the end of the season (and if City have an off-night, we might just surprise a few tonight, too)

I'll be clapping for captain tom at 6pm , so won't see the first 2 goals
Re: Positives from tonight....
they can only beat us 5 - 0 once this season in the league, will a 4- 0 result or less seem like an improvement of the team? It will for me.

I was worried when he put out a second eleven but they did far better than the first eleven usually does.

A rare home win v City it's long overdue, but perhaps beating entitled Brighton is more important

Re: Positives from tonight....
No harm done if the results stay as they are and Brighton lose at Anfield.
Re: Positives from tonight....
City didn't score during ht.
Re: Positives from tonight....
So far no injuries
Fulham losing
If we manage to keep score line down a bit and Liverpool win later it could be a half decent evening

Re: Positives from tonight....
Fulham losing just like us, so no damage done, and Saturday offers a much greater chance of points.
Hopefully Spurs can waken from their slumbers later, and do us a favour.
To put tonight into genuine perspective, this will be City's 13th win on the bounce, so it's not just us who struggle to contain them.
It could be worse we could be Southampton.

I’m fairly happy we only let 2 in. The goal difference might play a part at the end of the season. Bring on the next game now!
