Stephens has been poor but I agree with the above. At least he has shown for the ball. Absolutely no support from the other 3 midfielders. It's a rank bad performance, but what can we do? Very risky to bring our best players on. Maybe Barnes for Jay, but the risk of injury to Tarks/Mee is too great for me.

Our midfield doesn't function without someone willing to move into space and be able to turn and pass accurately crying out for a Brownhill, Westie or Cork

Agree that Stephens has had more touches than anyone else the problem is that he has missed two decent opportunities to get a shot on target whilst nearly getting an OG and nearly giving a pen away. I’d rather he was involved less and do something right tbh

Stephens taking a lot of stick here, but Dyche's downright disgusting tactics must take the majority of the blame. The other midfielders, aside from McNeil, have been absolutely garbage too. What's he meant to do in there against 5 good footballers?

Stephens and Benson are being outnumbered in midfield. Benson is in experienced and Stephens is struggling with the pressure.

Amazed Stephens has been singled out, he’s literally on his own in midfield, Benson is offering nothing at all.

I love Burnley, But this is hard to watch. they're playing like they don't give a sh.t they could at least put some effort in. None of them making a claim for a first team spot.

He's playing alongside Dunne who is also inexperienced . Mee would help steady him.

Both fullbacks have struggled though. Bardsley looks incapable of passing 6 yards to a claret shirt. And JGB has transformed back into the static ineffective backward facing player we have seen far too often this season.

Need Westwood on. I’d hook Glennon, Stephens and Benson. I’m sure I’m missing something but I actually can’t see what Benson offers and I don’t just mean this game.

When Dyche makes so many changes it basically tells the squad that he couldn't care less.

Missing any real leader in the team. I don't think Bardo, for all his experience and qualities, is a leader of others and, unfortunately, nor is anyone else out there.

Agreed but Stephens is the experienced one and should lead by example. Hes played at the highest level for several years but you couldn't tell
