Really tough on the fans

I feel sorry for any fans tonight who feel cheated.
Suggestions that Dyche is sending a message to the club are wide of the mark as is criticism of his tactics.Everyone understands that survival in the PL is a priority but to select the team he did tonight with a chance of the last 8 at stake is hard to swallow

No it isn't. Several players needed a rest tonight, as Saturday's game is more important, but it is fair to say that those who stepped in tonight did themselves no favours whatsoever.

100% Elizabeth.
To play like that and go down without a fight is disgraceful.
Yes the Premier league is important but crying out loud this cup run would have been the most exciting thing to happen in years should we have progressed.
Dyche needs to give his head a wobble after that. To name Pieters as a starter when he was suspended is a joke. There's a reason the big boys don't come in for him

TBF to Dyche I understand why he selected the team he did tonight. The league HAS to be a priority and he also has to get the fringe players some game time so that if and when they're needed he knows whether they're up to it. He wasn't sending any messages except that looking after the fitness of several absolutely key players was his priority. The problem is what sits on the fringe is woefully inadequate and that's not really a surprise.

Just glad we couldn't go. At least we didn't waste any money on petrol, programmes and pies.
This was a case of the players feeling the same way as the boss. It's not a priority and we don't give a f**k.

Of course , but surely it’s going too far to play Dunne and Long together as one example that Dyche put 2 fingers up.
Against Fulham he had Tarkowski in one of the central positions but not tonight

So, so disappointed to lose in that fashion.

Yes it would. 1 game away from Wembley and 2 game away from winning it after that.
Beating Liverpool wouldn't even compare to getting to watch Burnley again at Wembley

I guess all players need games, but I agree that Dunne and Long are a long way behind Mee and Tarks in terms of ability.
Yes, he could have played one or both of them if he wanted to, but if one of them had got injured, then the same people slating Dyche for this team selection would no doubt be slating him for playing first choice centre halves.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes.

I normally stay well away from the board after a defeat because some of the overreacting is pathetic and embarrassing. However, tonight was a disgrace and a massive slap in the face to the fans. If you’re going to do that in a very winnable 5th round home tie, why on earth not just play the kids in the third round and get it over with.
I know its become all about the money now but at what point as fans do we remember what football is actually meant to be about?

A good summary as to why many people will be annoyed at the team selection and how Dyche approached this game.

Just awful. Dyche miscalculated and the team that was on the pitch was woeful. Got to rest the players - well play a good side to get ahead then bring on subs. Bournemouth weren’t good either but we were worse.

We should have signed Phil Jones instead!

I do but I mean in terms of signings and have said that on many occasions. Mumbongo, Benson, Jimmy Dunne aren't good enough.
We need to be signing younger players who are good enough. The "younger" players we have aren't good enough and tonight's proof

Picked the correct team for the game
We would have probably gone out in the next round to either , Of the Manchester clubs, Spurs, Leicester, Chelsea etc from which one of them will win the cup.

The problem is that people like you who think that a game against Palace is more important than an FA Cup quarter final place is just about everything that is wrong with modern day football.

There's a choice tonight to rest them, no choice on Saturday. We only have two centre halfs, let's look after them, otherwise we're goosed

Blimey, Dave, Freudian slip or what ?
If tonight was tough on the fans, it was a damn sight more tough on the fringe players who came in and let us down. A huge chance to perform, keep their place for the next round and who knows ?
They simply weren't good enough - you can see why Dyche protects the key first team players at all costs !

Avoided the pain of making the FA Cup final and not being able to go. Not even sure why they’re playing cups without fans, feels utterly pointless.
Overall, our 2nd XI are toss, but he was right to rest our first XI. Win on Saturday and nobody will care.

It’s ok bringing in the odd young player but to bring in three in Glennon, Dunne and Benson with the main support Stephens and Long destroys the youth development argument

Dyche won't give two hoots for the fans.
He couldn't care less about the cup. Stay in the PL and keep picking up his wage.
And the bulls%@t about saving players is exactly that. Any player could get injured in any game at any time throughout the season.
