Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
.....should Fulham lose at Everton tomorrow.
35 points will p1ss it.
But let's crack on up the table. I point behind Wolves, three behind Palace.

Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
15 games remaining, so 45 points up for grabs, I'd hope we can garner say 20 or so, and if we maintain our form from the last 15 games that should be perfectly possible, only 3 points off Southampton in 12th, so they are catchable I'd say.

Should Fulham lose 2 wins and a draw I think would see us safe this season.

If we can stay clear of injuries, there is no reason why we can't finish in 12th spot

I think 34 points will see us safe this season. I think we will get more than that though. I wouldn't be surprised if none of the bottom 3 got more than 30 points though to be honest.

If Fulham lose to Everton and then to us, then that’ll be enough I think

33 will be more than enough this season. That would be 18 points in front of the highest relegation candidates who are currently on 15. The bottom three essentially have to get more points than they've garnered so far in less games than they have had already.
If the gap were smaller than a few games ago or even the same its possible but u nlikely. As the gap's increased the bottom 3 really do need a miracle.

"Steer clear of injuries" is the key phrase here!

Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
I've been saying for weeks that I don't think it will need 35 and after the Villa win I reckoned four more wins would be more than enough. I'll stick with 34 being the absolute max needed to stay up this year.

Unless Fulham's form improves we already have enough points.

I agree that 34 gets it done.
I think we will have more than that.

I agree, 34 points will be plenty or beat Fulham twice....they ain't catching us.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:28 pmI've been saying for weeks that I don't think it will need 35 and after the Villa win I reckoned four more wins would be more than enough. The frustrating thing for me, and I know we can’t have ‘everything’ in this league, BUT if we’d taken the game against Bournemouth seriously, we’d probably be saying that this is turning into an excellent campaign!

Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
Villa stayed up with 35 last season, but I really can't see any of the bottom 3 getting anywhere near 34 points this season, and even if they somehow did reach that figure it's hard to imagine us not winning at least 3 more games, and drawing a couple, and that's being cautious in predictions, it'll take an amazing drop in form from anybody else for the bottom 3 to even get a sniff of survival, however this doesn't mean we should rest on our laurels, and we will need to strengthen in the summer, we've got away with it for the most part this campaign, but as recent weeks have shown, if we're short of 1st team regulars on a constant basis, we'll struggle to compete week after week in this league, so we badly need a stronger back up squad, and simply extra strength in depth, because relying on the same 14/16 players to stay fit and in form for the entire season is dicing with lady luck to say the least.

Given the hectic schedule and the fact we've picked up a lot of injuries i can appreciate why he mixed it up so much in the weekGrumps wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 8:31 pm"a few questions marks in the week after I made a lot of changes, which I don’t always do, but we keep losing players with injuries and the players give us a lot.

I agree. Still won’t be happy until we get to forty though.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:28 pmI've been saying for weeks that I don't think it will need 35 and after the Villa win I reckoned four more wins would be more than enough. Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
If we continue with the form we've been in over
the last 6 games (w3 d1 l2) then we'll easily stay up
and probably end up mid table.
In fact over the last 14 games we've won 6, drawn 3 and lost 5
with 13 goals scored and 12 against.
Match that in our last 15 games and we'd be on and around 47/48 points
which might be a top ten position.
But bow to the 'one game at a time' view and so lets
beat Fulham and West Brom and then we're virtually guaranteed
to stay up.
Must admit to being sorely relieved and well pleased with today's result.
And the performance too.

Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
I've not been looking down the table for a good few weeks now, as the 3 at the bottom are absolute bobbins.
Re: Nine More Points Will Probably Do It....
Considering Southampton have imploded and lost their last 6 games, it's highly likely.
If we beat Fulham and West Brom in our next two games that will be enough keep us up.
