Just listened to Roys post match interview. I know he's hat his share of Micky takers over the years but spoke well, no excuses said the best team won. Came across as a true gent.

He's a class act.

Think this season will be his last. Today might have helped make up their owners minds, were probably expecting some kind of a reaction after their no show at Leeds on Monday.

Me too. Looked pretty cheesed off all the game and I suspect not just because of the scoreline.

I've always liked Roy. He has done a really good job at a lot of clubs!

He's been around forever and he knows the game and he's not so up his own trumper that he can't say it as it is when his team were poor and the better team won on the day. He's got plenty of dosh in the bank and he's definitely old enough to have had his his first Covid vaccination, so he isn't going to be too worried about being honest and getting the sack! He's a more than decent bloke tbh.

looks like Sean was playing for his job!

He is usually fair and honest with his post match interviews. Also very eloquent, which makes a change from most managers.

I think that sums it all up very well

A very intelligent man as well as being a very successful football manager.
I think he's 72, can see CP being his last club.

Roy has apparently been at 16 clubs, and he's also had 3 international jobs. there can't be many managers with that kind of CV to their name.

It's a pity things didn't work out for him at England, but he won't be the first or last successful club manager to fail in that gig.

His contract is up in June, as are many of their players, so however takes the reins at Palace faces a major rebuilding phase, and it looks like Zaha might be haggling for a move away to boot.

Would Sean be tempted, he might be, but I don't see Palace as being a bigger draw than us, assuming of course Pace loosens the purse strings in the summer, and we can get some top drawer signings through the door.

They most certainly did and they played like a team left threadbare through injuries and with a seriously ageing squad in desperate need of incoming. And bizarrely, even more ageing and more threadbare and more in need of new blood than us!!! Which was nice to see after our consecutively lackluster transfer windows!!!

A proper gent is Roy.Honest as the day is long and he has been a superb manager.

I think Roy was possibly looking at his successor in the next dugout today and this could be his last season at the helm.
I also think Mr Paish and his assistant Mr Bright are big admirers of SD.

He does come across as a nice man, but I believe he also has a real temper and can be quite unpleasant if he's caught in a bad mood. I suppose all managers need that edge though to survive the industry.

vastly experienced, and a gentleman. its a cut throat business, but he has enough dignity to be rational and decent, even in defeat.

Very well respected man in football, has worked for Uefa/Fifa for a long time as an observer for international tournaments.

Football will be that little bit worse off when he finally retires.

Listening post match it was a fair assessment & he called it right, lots of other managers would have diverted the blame away & used excuses so fair play for saying it how it was.

The only managers currently in English football with more trophies than him are Pep, Jose, Klopp and Rodgers I think.

He's won several leagues/cups in different countries.

I do think his career has been outstanding nevertheless though. He’s been managing football clubs for 45 years now at the top level of various countries for the vast majority of those, not to mention a few international jobs too. When he finally does retire, he’ll rightly be content with a career better than 99%+ of people will have had.

I don’t think you necessarily have to win a league or cup to have had a good career.

Look at Dyche for example. He’s been brilliant for us. But realistically will never win a top flight trophy for us.

But come on. Even Karen Carneys trophies are nearly as prestigious as Hodgsons!

Do you have to win trophies to have an outstanding career? There have been plenty of great players with sod all in the trophy cabinet, it doesn’t mean that they didn’t have outstanding careers. I’d afford managers the same consideration.

I would say Alex Ferguson had an outstanding career

It’s looking like unfortunately this thread could turn into random rows about RH managerial merits, 1 thing you can always say the blokes never really been out of work or short on offers at 72, I’ll leave that there as my closing comment.
