Re: Thierry Henry
If he fails Bournemouth are worse off, if he succeeds, he'll be off to Arsenal... and Bournemouth are worse off.

Re: Thierry Henry
They should stick with Woodgate. Henry didn’t exactly impress at Monaco.

Don't get it myself, no championship experience, did nowt at Monaco, don't think he set the world alight in American league and won't be going for peanuts, seems a bit of an attention seeking appointment.
Re: Thierry Henry
They should have got Mick McCarthy or Neil Warnock. Stupid decision driven by image rather than substance.

That has the air of disaster all over it, in my opinion.

Re: Thierry Henry
5live are saying it's Henry or Wagner...
Let's be honest Wagner is probably a safer bet, he knows what's involved etc.

Re: Thierry Henry
Big name doesn't automatically = success, if Henry takes that job he'll need an experienced number 2 that knows that league, I fear it won't end well TBH.

Re: Thierry Henry
doomed to failure, odd that quite a few of the really successful managers were duds as players.

Re: Thierry Henry
Dreadful appointment.
He was AWFUL at Monaco.
We're talking Chris Waddle/Glen Roeder levels are ineptitude.

Re: Thierry Henry
Wagner seems to sensible option.
That is how bad the idea of Henry as manager is that someone as poor as Wagner is the better choice.

They've appointed Jonathan Woodgate until the end of the season

Re: Thierry Henry
Despite their defeat at QPR yesterday they are still well placed to at least make the play-offs, so why not give Woodgate the reins until the end of the season. he's certainly shown enough in his brief tenure to suggest he's up to the task.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 4:18 pmThey've appointed Jonathan Woodgate until the end of the season

Re: Thierry Henry
Not sure what happened with Henry while Lampard, Wagner & Terry all came and went. Had a good start under Woodgate and apparently murdered QPR yesterday in all but result.

Re: Thierry Henry
I thought I read somewhere that the MLS side he is at have so far refused to give Bournemouth permission to speak to him or have I dreamed that up??
Re: Thierry Henry
Alexander Golovin, the Russian CM at Monaco, gave a few interesting snippets on life under Henry.
In training, Henry would fly into a rage if his players couldn’t do the things that he could do as a player. It would often end up with Henry joining the sessions and almost embarrassing the players, challenging them to get the ball off him.
Not a good look at all.

Re: Thierry Henry
Henry was one of the greatest , just sublime . Though his road into management seems to be chequered with plenty of minor squabbles , sulking ,allied to a flouncing self centered egocentric whose coaching record is pretty p1ss poor thus far . Perhaps the Celtic job could be a good punt for him as at least he’s only 1 team to compete with !

Sounds similar to some of the tales of Waddle's tenure hereTsarBomba wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:56 pmAlexander Golovin, the Russian CM at Monaco, gave a few interesting snippets on life under Henry.

Re: Thierry Henry
I would imagine that's a major reason why it's relatively uncommon for top level players to succeed in coaching/managing. It's quite uncommon in all major team sports for top players to make that transition.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:56 pmAlexander Golovin, the Russian CM at Monaco, gave a few interesting snippets on life under Henry.

Re: Thierry Henry
Top players rarely make even decent manages so if he is appointed I would not be confident of him being a success down there.
Re: Thierry Henry
The best managers tend to be people who were relatively limited as players, which made them have to work harder and think about things a lot more.
