If they did offside like I think offside should be done, measured from the position of the feet only, I think Bamford would have been onside tonight.
I'm sure before VAR and its "slide rule" measurements were introduced the ref/lino only decided offside from where the players' feet were. Yes, I know that wasn't how the rule was written, but I'm sure that was how the offside calls were made.
Whether my version would assist Chris Wood, well, time would tell.

Position of the body, surely. Feet move far to fast and in random directions, they are too small and can be hidden in the grass or by the camber to judge properly, and they aren't in club colours. The ,inesman reckoned Bamford was offside because his body was forward of the defender's body, and of course (though close offside calls can only be guesswork nowadays) the VAR's best guess said the linesman was right.

What is this new-found fascination with writing every other letter in a given word as a capital letter?
To give the example from Bamford’s tweet - “mAkInG tHe GaMe BeTtEr”.
Can anyone help with this one?

Yes, what has Bamford ever done to upset us? It’s pretty pathetic when some gloat at the misfortune of a player who it didn’t work out for at Burnley. Additionally the guy is having a decent season for Leeds so that probably irks a few. Perhaps they should be questioning why Dyche didn’t select him when he was here? He was unfortunate last night with that VAR decision as he was a centimetre offside if that.

I have nothing against Bamford and his time here, in fact I’m a little uncomfortable about some of the stories about his time here. But he doesn’t half come across as a little whingy arse. He’s turned into a very good players but he’s not easy to like.

Probably the 50th or so decent goal ruled out post VAR. The post lockdown, post match pub banter will no longer be between beer swilling mates but a crowd of academics arguing over the width of a computer generated line

He hasn’t done anything to upset me but he came to us unproven at PL level and did nothing to show he was good enough, in his rare opportunities. He’s older now and in his time back in the Championship he has improved. I still don’t think he is as good as he thinks he is.

I don't have any issues with Bamford other than he plays for Leeds I'm at that age where it's not really possible to forget Revie, Hunter and Co as for VAR it didn't turn up for us at Elland Road but as they say 'it is as it is'

The VAR system needs better data and measuring points for it to be truly accurate. The camera view needs to be perpendicular to the length of the pitch, with the near side and far side calibrated by graduations along the entire length of the pitch.
None of this guessing using cameras from all different angles and perspectives.
All the technology and data capture is readily available and in use in different industries.
The output is only as good as the data input.

I don't get the Bamford loathing on here. Bamford was only a loan player that didn't work out either for him or ourselves. Maybe I could understand this a little if he had been a fans favourite, costing 20 million, who ran his contract down, only rock up 10 miles down the road on a freebie while professing his hatred for all things Claret & Blue.

I am unsure how good Bamford thinks he is? However, I would say he is better than any of our regular three strikers.

Wow. That is pretty interesting. It's certainly more accurate than a lino 5 yards behind play
But the assistant flagged for Bamford. He's offside. Stop whining. Offside in "old riles" offside in " new rules"
I think the loathing on here comes from his whiny outbursts.
Wasn't co.plaining about stealing 3 pts from us with a non penalty was he?

Sorry Guys but Bamford has turned out to be a good player , hard to admit but this Leeds team is entertaining to watch .
The weird little bloke with the bucket is changing them from one the most hated teams in the country to an interesting bunch .
