With Zaha joining a growing number of players against taking the knee, will we soon see the end of it ?

The issue needs to be kept very much alive, but other means of doing so are needed now. After a while any gesture, however potent at the outset, becomes routinised and loses its impact. Taking the knee has probably reached that point now, so something different is required.

How it should be as when the players dont feel its having the impact they want then they are the ones who should make the call to end it.
Guess it shows how wrong those idiots were who said it was being forced on players and who felt their feelings and not the players should dictate whether it should continue or stop.
The problem hasn't gone away so lets hope football can find a new and fresh vehicle for keeping this high on the agenda and continuing to make those all lives matter goons feel uncomfortable

In fairness Zaha spends the whole 90 minutes taking the knee...

They should’ve stopped it after the first weekend, when it was done for the first time, it sent a really powerful message. Now its just routine just protocol

What happens if the team kicking off dont want to take a knee and the other team do? Could you take a quick kick off and slalom through the kneeling team towards goal?

Well done to the players who have spoken out on the problem.
Lyle Taylor and Wilfred Zaha have joined the club of those who are publicly against this stupid, politically charged American gesture.
Hopefully more and more players will feel confident to refuse to be bullied into it.

I think it’s all about education, which needs to start in school, I called my music teacher a n****r at primary school because she had fallen asleep in the sun and burnt, I think I was throughly 8/9 and I’d heard a bloke use the word in the 110 club before a game and everyone in the group had laughed so I thought it was a joke.
Whilst I knew I shouldn’t have said it I had no idea why at the time, rather than exclude me the head master sat me down for an hour and talked me through the origins of the slave trade and and racism, it was really powerful as I remember it so vividly and the picture on the wall in his office showing slaves being traded off a ship.

If there’s no FA Cup ambition then for those fans they have to have something to keep them going over the season

There is a train of thought that it has had a negative impact on race relations, with it's connections to a deified convict.

People and players are still getting racially abused.
Maybe if people more effort into doing something about that, than moaning about a symbolic gesture then we might get somewhere.

And probably sending out a more powerful message about equality whilst creating unity on our own lands.
It gets far more publicity too.

I'd love to see one team do it, and the other not do it, for no other reason than to see how the comentator would cover it.
On another point, how long are sky going to have the black lives matter logo after 8 mins if everything else stops

What an uneducated and puerile thing to say.
You're happy to see an extremist organisation given publicity and legitimacy and you're happy for black victimhood to be perpetuated because you find the response to it amusing?
It's like being happy for the BNP to proliferate because you enjoy lively debates.

Liking the wider BLM movement to a small subset movement (who actually get no publicity apart from the people like you who use them as a stick to beat the BLM fight against racism) is like linking the everyday use of the St Georges flag to the far right nationalist party's who used it as a symbol for their racist ideological movement
If you're happy to give publicity and legitimacy to far right political party's then you keep using the St Georges flag

Happily for me, you're not worth engaging on any serious matter DA. I'm grateful you opted for such a transparent username to highlight the reasons why.

There might be a large degree of this too. Which is only sensible really.
The best thing for them to do would be to admit it was a mistake to import American politics into football and a even bigger mistake to endorse the BLM movement.

fat chance of that.
They know full well that BLM is a pro-communist political movement with anarchist ranks but they pretend that reality doesnt exist and its all purely an anti-racist symbol. As if the whole of June and July never even happened. To even breath a word about their attacks on statues in the summer or the battering of police is pounced upon as "giving legitimacy to racists" and the debate ends there, dead.
They got a chance to ram it down the working classes throats for 6 months with no pushback (as no crowds) but now they know their little stunt is over because the minute they let the crowds back in, their image they like to broadcast would come crashing down.
So they will quietly shuffle it out through the back door over the next few weeks/months, get rid of it in time for the fans to come back, then spend the next 2 years talking about how big of a success its been.

If I remember rightly there was no certainty that clubs would do it more than once, but Burnley were the first PL team to play a second game after lockdown and it was certain they would take a knee because of the banner over the ground in the first game. And then after Burnley had done it a second time, so did everyone else, and it because the norm.
Anyone else remember if that's how it was?

Football Forums should try to avoid overtly motivated posting opinions that just deteriorate into political point scoring.
'Taking The Knee' originating from BLM is a political gesture approved by the EPL and its original effect is being really diminished by over usage. It would make more sense for it to be currently acknowledged with a greater audience too, only at national sporting events. One surely can't deny this subject's right to be 'aired' without having comparisons made to extreme political groups.

On one hand I don’t get why football feels it has to be the purveyor of morality, just get on with the game and leave the BLM, minutes silences and poppy fetishism out of the game.
On the other hand football seems to have a bigger problem with racist idiots than most other sports or pastimes
