Re: Today’s football 27/02
Flat track bullies striking again, I wouldn't worry they'll never make up the gap to the top 6 now, and that's what matters ultimately.

Re: Today’s football 27/02
I’d disallow them every time for the player deliberately standing in an offside position to unsight the keeper. If he’s not interfering WTF is he doing there?
Re: Today’s football 27/02
Maybe watching Masons last game. Ok for us tho. Baggies still winning somehow

There’s going to be a hell of a scramble from the referee defenders over the coming days.
Re: Today’s football 27/02
The most incredible thing is that he had to check what had happened on the VAR.
He was stood right there!! He was checking his own work on the VAR!!

VAR is going to be over-worked today - Lee Mason is the home of the clear and obvious error

Re: Today’s football 27/02
VAR is proving that the most useless refs like Mason, Scott and Hooper can make an even bigger Horlicks of things than usual when advised by technology.
That was obviously “no goal” after 2 seconds deliberation. Not only had Mason blown his whistle a 2nd time (which he should have known instantly) but the BHA man was blocking the keeper’s view in an offside position when the kick was taken.
I actually think the ball was in and his arm band would have vibrated BEFORE the 2nd whistle even though apparently VAR judged the opposite. But the offside man interfering should have made that a redundant thing anyway.

Lee Mason loves us. He saw it going in so blew again before it crossed the line.
More refs should do this.

Can't wait to read north stand chat if the incident costs Brighton points. Will be like a nuclear bomb has gone off over there

Worries me how bad WBA are. And they were way better than us with 10 men. Fortunately for us they have a decent keeper

Wow. That was an absolute clusterf**k by Mason. You wouldn't even trust him signalling correctly for the start of the second half.
As for the actual football, I'm not sure how Brighton haven't scored yet!

In fairness after that farce they'd be entitled to spout off about the ref wouldn't they, and let's be honest this forum would be no different would it.dpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:48 pmCan't wait to read north stand chat if the incident costs Brighton points. I take it you haven't seen their games much this season, missing clear cut chances is what they do for a living.

Well they certainly can't blame Lee Mason for the pathetic penalty miss that's for sure.dpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:53 pmNah they are Brighton fans, deserve everything they get.
Anyway all well so far for us 1-0 to the Baggies at the break, and that'll do very nicely thank you.

Surely it would be better to leave wba deep in trouble rather than 3 point closer to us?

Bristol Rovers 1-0 up against Shrewsbury in the battle of the ex-Clarets.
Cardiff winning again, what an impact Mick McCarthy has had there.

Re: Today’s football 27/02
Strictly speaking a draw is the best result... but 2nd best is a Buggles win , after all we don't want the Seagulls winning and going ahead of us do wedpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:57 pmSurely it would be better to leave wba deep in trouble rather than 3 point closer to us?
Re: Today’s football 27/02
Apparently Biden blew his whistle twice. Once to start play before Dunk took in then again to stop play because WBA were not ready. The second whistle was before ball crossed line so retake free kick. And if you believe that !!!

Re: Today’s football 27/02
Not really the bottom 2 have a mountain to climb, and are realistically doomed barring a miracle. Whereas a Brighton defeat keeps them well in the mix, and the more teams in the pot for that last place the better as far as I'm concerned.dpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:57 pmSurely it would be better to leave wba deep in trouble rather than 3 point closer to us?

Re: Today’s football 27/02
VAR didn't decide anything, it's the officials that screwed up, not the technicalities.
I think VAR upsets people so much, because it highlights how inept referees are, instead of helping them to reach the right decision.
Last weeks 'penalty' would be written off without VAR, and accepted by most fans, because it was a close call, and you can excuse a mistake. VAR takes that reasonable doubt away, so we get angry because with VAR it should have been given. Only those officiating , especially in the studio, are responsible.
Re: Today’s football 27/02
They'd still be 11 points behind us...dpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:57 pmSurely it would be better to leave wba deep in trouble rather than 3 point closer to us?
